Love me some Anker kit. I think I have one of those 4-way adapters, but in black.

It didn't matter on colour as they're all hidden. But yeah, I shy away from cheap chargers and cables now. Talking of which I still need two USB cables but I'll get them later or something.

Yeah, always wondered why they numb your face to dribbling at the reception desk.

Yup got one of those, the easy swap EU adapter is a real bonus too.

I've got so much Anker kit. Love it all.

I go straight to Anker for cables and the like too.

I've got a few things from Anker, they're not supreme quality but they are good and certainly for the price; I wouldn't buy anything else now as I know they're a safe bet in a world that can be a minefield.

Yeah, I think they're pretty good value, you could get cheaper but 9/10 times they'll fall to bits on you.

Their headphones (Soundcore by Anker) are good too.

It's okay, Oktoberfest is largely celebrated in September around here from what I can tell. I'm not sure the German piss-artists are in a position to call you out for having a crack in February!

Incidentally, Kloster Scheyern isn't bad in non-weiß beer format. Not sure how far it travels, though, as the bewery is only an hour from me so it stands to reason that I see a lot of it.

Been splurging on a few interesting Kickstarter campaigns of late:

    Rocketbook Orbit
. Basically very thin pages of whiteboard-like material you write on with a Frixion pen (or compatible) and wipe off with a damp cloth when you're done. I go through a *lot* of legal pads, so this should be interesting - and comes with a smartphone app for quick digitisation before you erase.

    Weathery
. It's basically a rather more put together version of the Raspberry Pi-powered weather monitor I've got in the living room, but with a neat electrophoretic display. Not sure this one'll see fruition, to be honest, but it was only $20 so worth a punt.

    Ganvas Modular Desktop Organiser
, in an effort to tame the kipple. Modular in name only, really, 'cos you get exactly the right amount of modules to fill the board and no more...

    ATX to AT power adapter
. Might finally get to do something with the old Pentium 233MMX, 64MB of EDO RAM, Matrox MGA/Mystique (I forget), SoundBlaster AWE64 Gold, and 3DFX Voodoo in the bits box!

I should also finally be getting the Accelerated ZX Spectrum Next that was due... two years ago. Last in the queue, though: unexpanded models shipped last week, Plus models this week, and the Accelerated next week.

Will the Switch do it justice?

I've not seen a Switch in the flesh to be fair.

If it's anything like DOOM, yes.

All I would say, though, is that it's better powered in handheld mode than relying on battery for heavy games IME.

I enjoy the Switch for casual "We're both doing our own thing but 'watching' the same show/film" and passenger-in-transport situations.

Also, the latest patch for Witcher 3 appears to add some fine-tuning options with regards to how it looks.

@liratheal I've not had a portable thingy-me-bob since my PSP.

Maybe I should have a look for summer hols, you know for when it's raining.

Me neither. Well. I had a Vita, but that doesn't really count I don't suppose.

I think the Switch is a really nice platform. But for ports of older games that were PC based (Looking at you, NWN..) it's just not right. Although the port of the FF VII/VIII/IX games were really good in that they worked, and evoked the same feelings as the originals but mobile.

I'd navigate the **** show of Nintendo's website and look at the games available on it. If you like indie stuff then there's a load of that stuff to pick from. Some of the motion control stuff is a bit bum, especially in controllers-on format, but most of what I've encountered can be turned off.

I'm given to understand that docked mode offers the best performance, but I've never used the dock because it wasn't what I bought it for. I had some slowdown in some parts of DOOM, but given how frenetic that game is, that's not surprising.

IMO, it's the only console a primarily PC gamer need concern themselves with. The Switch offers a different way to game, unlike the rest.

I can't remember if I mentioned this before, but I pre-ordered Harleen and it arrived today. It was very good and definitely worth a look. Like a lot of Šejic's work.
