I don't do things with less than 100% dedication. Also, this is way too much fun.

@perplekks45 @adidan Finished reading Jonathan Pie's book. Highly recommend it, even if it's a little pricey for a short read. To paraphrase the man himself, a great toilet read to enjoy whilst breathing in the aroma of your defecation.

Depends, how much flesh are you prepared to let Bezos cut out of you for his next ritual to the Formless Spawn of Tsathoggua?

Decided to get a multi-grip bar for the back of the house. Sadly the pre-lockdown price of £50 was no more and had jumped to £80, but I'm still happy with the purchase. The supplied wall fixings look rubbish so I also got some M10 shield anchors from ToolStation, and my brother kindly loaned me his SDS drill for the installation. This is by no means a domestic piece of kit, and it's a labour to fix it up, but well worth it.

The remaining components for the SCART-GBS8200 interface board so it stops staring at me on the desk.
A pack of connectors, partly for the above, partly for 'stock'
Another round of styrene for the Metal Gear Rex project
    A bunch of CD's
A couple of things for the lady, some sort of interior decoration things that I've no real opinion on.
A much larger power socket doodad for the "entertainment" corner of the office/crap room, because that's now becoming something of a retro console corner.
    Assorted screws in various sizes
An M4 tap in various flavours, because apparently I have every size except M4.
A much, much, more beefy 12v supply so I can fob the two off under the desk and replace them with just the one.
USB3 to USB2 header adapter, because the Shift Air has USB3, and USB3 header breakouts were.. Obnoxiously expensive.

I just like how they badly photoshopped the battery out of the image. Looks like it was done by a 5 year old.

    These

    To go inside this

Annoyingly the buttons are all 30mm, so there are two empty 24mm holes which can't currently be populated. I'll have to get some 24mm buttons then...

Interestingly, they're just Cherry-like keyboard switches and a couple of LEDs inside the buttons. Blues, specifically:

@Pete J just finished the chapter on Murdoch and wanted to say thank you for that recommendation. This book, while definitely not everybody's cup of tea, says a lot of things that are sadly very true in a very harsh yet entertaining/funny way. Couldn't enjoy it more!

I have NEVER been able to do a chinup. We have a loft conversion in the house we grew up in, where the loft stairs hung over the others and my brother would use them to do chinups all the time. I would just hang, unable to offer any upward movement. As I moved into my late teens and early twenties and my right shoulder especially disintegrated, it became clear why. My post op physio said I had the worst excuse for joints she'd seen in someone able to function "normally" it was a miracle I could walk. lol

My wife's knees are comprehensively shot, only bloody minded determination keeps them working. Unfortunately, due to a genetic condition, she cannot have replacements. My knees, ankles and fingers are on the way out but, not too bad yet. The key to keeping joints working, is to keep working them.

Ain't that the truth. Since finishing the mod I haven't done much of anything and really stiffening up again.

    Couldn't help myself...

    IMG_20200831_090842_1.jpg

An Olight OPen 2. It's a bolt-style-action rollerball pen with a detachable LED torch at the top, rechargeable via USB Type-C. Up to 120lm output, but only for about twenty minutes - it's a small battery. Run it in 5lm "moonlight" mode (which is about ten times the brightness of the usual moonlight mode on Olight torches, at 0.5lm) and it'll go for a claimed ten hours, tho'.

Yes, that mark on my hand was from when I was fiddling with the mechanism and accidentally drew on myself...
