Many thanks Sam, I didn't realise Fuji were now allowing other lens manufacturers a slice of the pie, very interesting!
I did a fair bit of research and the X-T3 kept coming up, particularly after the newer firmware was released. The Nikon gear is still fantastic and easy to pick up and go, it's just the bulk of it which set me on the path of looking for something simply not as bulky, but having similar if not better usability. I started off with a Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 I think it was, ooh, *cough* years ago. It used to be my Dad's and it had been with him to many different places round the world. I decided to go fully digital in about 2010 with a D40 - I've been Nikon since then. The main points I was sold on an X-T3 are the focus capabilities, the colour output and the way the dials are set up so it's all just there, mmm lovely. The live view which gives you exposure preview is something new which I'd not seen before and I didn't realise mirrorless cameras did that until I recently started looking into them, that was another usp for me.
I like the style of Omar Gonzales youtube channel, a recent find for me - I'll have to queue a few of his 'how to setup' videos up as there's some great content there. Itching to get out with this camera now though, it'd be great if I wanted to capture things in the rain.

    Got ma a new Show.

She has one in her bedroom. I can't remember what size it is. Either 5 or 7? gawd knows. Any way her dot downstairs is messed up. It keeps turning the volume down to hardly audible. Obviously this is worse for her, rather than me, as I sit right next to it and she is hard of hearing. She mentioned she wanted a new one ages ago but wants the one with the screen so she can see the time and weather without asking for it. The 8 first gen was on sale for £55, so I bagged her one for ma's day.

    Wow.

So yesterday I got very annoyed. I had issues setting up the TV PC. Getting a hdmi cable into my telly is a proper twunt. They are recessed in so even if you get access you can't see. I got it in after about an hour and then began the hunt for a kettle lead. Found one, routed it all through the cabinet (twunt number 2) then try and restore my BL3 install and then accidentally deleting it (twunt 3) and having to reinstall it.

Go have a shower then my mate pinged me ready to play. Go to connect the rig, kettle lead won't fit. WTF?. Turned out it has no ground hole. You couldn't make it up :(

Had to move all of the speakers and go into the crawl space. Found one, messed around and got it connected (all whilst my mate was patiently waiting) and then tried to pair the XB BT controller. Couldn't get it to work, faffed around for ages before I realised it was Microsoft's fault. In the BT menu it says like, "connect a new BT device" blah blah, then "connect things like Xbox controller". So of course I was trying that. Which is bs. Any way finally ignored that and got it connected.

Insert tacky horrible headset I got free. Sound works (this is connected to the controller) no mic. Even though mic is showing up and selected in Discord. In the end my poor mate sat there 2.5 hours whilst I peed around with it yelling "hello hello hello" gradually louder for nearly an hour.

    I smashed it to pieces.

It was just one of those days where nothing is going to work.

Anyway if you got this far lmao

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0B2QQQSMB?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

Came up for £29.99 last night. The mic is crap, but the Ti drivers and hi res DAC are apparently incredible. So I got it, I even got it in the iron man colours lol.

This sounds like every single time I try to play PC games online. One of the reasons I stuck with Xbox for so many years - it just works.

Currently slogging away trying to make the PC side work each time so I can get involved with the eldest, but it's frankly rage-inducing. I feel ya.

I gave my second Xbox to my cousins boy. And all my games. He has anxiety. I think he's an aspie like me tbh.

Once everything is set it'll be ok but yeah, you do seem to spend about an hour peeing around with pc games before you can actually play them :(

I have an Audeze Mobius gaming headset that connects to anything I have via BT, but not to my Win 10 PC. Everything but my Mobius connects to my Win 10 PC without issues. Gotta love PCs.

That was what scared me off of buying a wireless headset tbh.

I thought about it a lot, and was happy to have a usb cable down my side and across the floor to the TV rig.

What did annoy me was using a wired controller with it. Mostly as it comes out in front of you and you move your hands way more than your head when sofa gaming. Thankfully that has been butter ever since I got it connected and I've been gaming all day.

    Headset should be here soon.

been looking for a "smart health tracking watch" for a while while everyone seems to be recommending me the i-watch, i just wanted something that is a normal watch with the relevant health sensors it either this or the horizon version of a similar garmin one. in the end since i have a withings/nokia scales i opted for this. must be 12 years since i last wore a watch when my old pulsar gave up the ghost and g-shock got lost. i am hoping it works fine on the inside of the wrist

From peaking online it seems this should be an ok combo will see when they turn up tomorrow but all looks positive, I have quite a large sweed and ears so wanted something a bit bigger than the 2nd choice which was Grado RS2 but from the size of them they would squish my ears.

I wear an Apple Watch, and if I want to check the time 9/10 I’ll check my phone rather than the watch

Needed a vertical mount. Didn't so much need a cable but I was struggling to find a decent one that looks like it can at least try and hold the weight of that 2080Ti I have. It's bloody heavy. Looked around for ages, then found this open box on OCUK for £40. It's for the Lancool 2, but the Odyssey X has open PCIE slots so it will work.

Not sure quite how I am going to work the Revodrive in there. I mean I don't need it but I do have a spare ribbon. Might be worth a try. I ordered three more fans. This time not at half price :D Ah well, I got the first two sets half off so I can't grumble too much.

It then dawned on me that if I use the grey and black extensions I bought on the cheap it would look awful. The case has glass both sides. I then embarked on a mission trying to find a reasonably cheap, good PSU that came with nice cables. There are none. In the end I whittled it down to two. Either the Asus Loki or the Thor. Both were over £200 :( then my luck came in again, and I found the Thor OB on OCUK for £154. Which isn't much more than a decent gold unit.

Then I find out the caveat. Only two of the three included PCIE cables are braided ffs. *sigh*

At least it's only the 8. I also realised at that point I broke my Mizu pin remover. *another sigh*

Mum bought a washer dryer for the house as while I'm focusing on the important things like home servers, a pool table and home assistant devices she wants it useable as a house . Ends up there's a home assistant integration for it :dremel:

Summer thing. So the hat I got 6 years ago has gone home a bit. Hardly surprising. I don't do dark colours, because my bald head burns. And black soaks up the heat, which is deadly for me being a day walker.

Nice and bright and cheerful. I also conceded that I really need a new bed. I bought a Ikea Malm when I moved in 4 years ago, and tbh? I hate it. It's very low down and it is practically killing me. The mattress I got is awful, and I wake up feeling like I have been hit by a train. This does not happen at my mother's house, where I have a far better mattress on a single bed. Which got me to thinking, I don't need a double. All it makes me do is sleep bad. I also bought a really nice purple duvet set over christmas, so I will pinch that from mum's and bring it home. I then needed a second.

Cost me £55. I know, that is triple what a cheapo one costs. Thing is? it will last at least 3 times longer. I'm done buying cheap crap full of polyester. For a big hairy old bloke like me it is pure kryptonite. And a good Habitat one would have cost me around the same any way.

I haven't ordered the bed yet but I know exactly what I want. So I have set all of those funds aside after my wee windfall and when I get back in two weeks (leaving Monday, going to family for Easter) I will pull the trigger. I want this one.

With this 10" mattress. Unlike the 5" one I have which is destroying me.
