Same here, well a T2 with the detachable middle and gizmo inside.

Had a thing about fire when I was younger though and my dad would let me have matches so obviously all my, now worth something probably, toys and airfix kits suffered terrible fireball crashes in the garden....

I was an odd kid. With a parent who did the opposite of any advice it turns out

Note that this one is the correct colour, not the weird metallic blue they used to use!
Now I want a white UFO Interceptor (the saucer arrived last week! :D). Those were always metallic green in my youth.

Also, I think the TB1/3 twin pack are new models altogether. I don't remember those from my childhood.

    Some equipment refreshings:-
1: The powerbank @sandys linked in the "New Powerbank" thread, because it's chonky enough to drive my laptop.
2: Matching 200W charger with detachable mains cable for travellings.
3: A little light reading for the weekend.

As it is payday today, I now have one of these on the way what for the playing around with. It is a LilyGo T-Beam LoRa radio modem. It lets you send simple messages through a meshed network without needing cell coverage or the internet. There are a few of us in a FB group trying to set up a bit of a group mesh, or at least see what we can pick up.

Comes with a reasonable sack to put it in but there are some specific hard cases on amazon for it if like me you carry a bunch of cables, though a 3rd of the price  . also a usb A to C adaptor is handy if you have a few USB C things to charge, I have a tiny dongle that just sits in the A port.

Funnily enough I also bought that 200w charger at the same time as my GRAM wouldn't play ball with my old block charging other things and couldn't charge and use the laptop simultaneously at full power despite only needing in 65w, this UGreen, no problem, I can charge all the things (phones, ipads at least) along side the laptop and still use the laptop full power, so I only need to bring one charger on trips.

I don't remember TB2 being quite so lurid in colour.

My cunning plan is to get a C5-C14 adaptor for it (cloverleaf to kettle lead). Hotel rooms always have a kettle lead lying around.

It was indeed a shade darker on the show, and Fab 1 wasn't quite so "Barbie pink" either.
Hopefully, that's just the product photography.

Some PTM7950. I've repasted the 3090 a couple of times now but can't seem to get the temps under control so i'm giving it a try. Will try some on the 5800X3D while I'm at it.

GPU core temp, or VRAM junction temp?

Hotspot specifically. It likes to go over 100 degrees and causes one of the 3 GPU fans to go to 100% for a bit to try and calm it. The first time I repasted it I got some new thermal pads from EVGA and replaced all those while I was at it.

For reference David, here it is at the moment with 3 week old Noctua NT-H1 paste. This was a quick Cyberpunk benchmark with it set to 95% power target and the fans set to "quiet" in EVGA Precision X1 and 25 degree ambient temp:

and 100% power target, fans set to "stealth":

    Old-fashioned trackball, twenty quid-ish:
    upload_2025-1-25_20-49-35.png

Why? Well, that's a nice modern USB cable on the end of that, yet the shell is... well, have a look at this:

    upload_2025-1-25_20-50-43.png

That's a Semerc trackball, for the Acorn Archimedes. That's a hundred quid on FleaBay right now. Assuming the Traxsys one works, I can get the same experience in my emulator *and* the ability to use it as a daily driver should I so choose for a fifth of the price.

Years ago I worked for the toy company that made the original toys, they got a load of them out of archives for the toys for the most recent movie (thats how long ago!), was amazing to see all these things I'd wanted so much in pristine condition!
