Could be. It does a lot of the chores like levelling by itself.
But I'd recommend visiting some 3D-printing youtubers for their expert opinion on it.

The actual thing I ordered did turn up in the end. I had a second delivery from Royal Mail on Saturday, after I'd already gone to a local CeX store to kick off... :duh: Managed to get a message through via their online contact thing though.

No motion sickness so far, but it's a little... strange... I'm used to a head-mounted display being VR, where your entire field of view is taken up by screen. With these, you have a rectangular viewport "floating" in front of your face. You can pin the "virtual display" in place - assuming you're plugged into a device running the correct software - but it's odd being able to see the "outside" world around the edge of the "virtual display".

60Hz refresh is definitely a limitation, you can definitely notice it when moving your head around. The "Pro" version of these glasses supports 90Hz and 120Hz, but they were a big extra chunk of change for something I wasn't sure I'd get on with.

The head tracking is not always the best, it's not even on par with something like the Rift S VR headset. The slightest head movement can make the screen jump, especially if you're using it in 'dumb display with no fancy 3DoF stuff' mode. It's not massive, and it's not really noticeable when I was watching YouTube videos with it (or playing games on the Steam Deck), but I'll see how I get on in 'productivity'-type situations.

So far I've tried it with:
    • Steam Deck - supported via a third-party Decky Loader plugin
    • Pop!_OS (ThinkPad T490) - supported via the third-party "Breezy" software
    • macOS (2022 MBP w/M2 Pro) - supported via the native "Spacewalker" application
    • Galaxy Tab 10.5 S4 - supported via the Android version of "Spacewalker", but it's garbage - Spacewalker on Android is an utterly useless glorified web browser
Annoyingly, some of the features for the Decky Loader plugin and Breezy Linux desktop software are locked behind a paywall. You get a 30-day trial from first use. No paywall that I can see on the 'native' macOS and Android applications (although, the latter is shash and best avoided). I get it, it takes time and effort to write stuff like that in your spare time, but I don't need another monthly subscription and $125 for a 'lifetime' license is steep.

Haven't tried on my Windows 11 desktop yet, the glasses need Type-C and since Nvidia abandoned the idea of Virtual Link there are no PC GPUs (I'm aware of) which have Type-C output. Instead I need a DisplayPort/HDMI to Type C cable that supports USB data passthrough, which I just haven't got around to ordering. Note: that's the other way around than you'd normally want: it doesn't convert a Type-C DisplayPort Alt Mode port on, for example, a laptop and output a standard HDMI/DP, it takes HDMI/DP input and outputs over Type-C DP AltMode. The USB data 'passthrough' is also important in order to supply power to the glasses and feed the 3DoF sensor data back to the PC's software. But the aforementioned Spacewalker application is also available for Windows.

I'm back in the office tomorrow, so I'm going to give it a shot for Actual Real Work (tm) and see how I get on. EDIT: Thankfully I'm working remotely, I'm not quite ready to take them into the office and look like a pillock in front of other people...!

    That's a lot lower than I expected!

I'm going to keep an eye on how long the pre-order pricing is available. I haven't yet broken the news to my OH that I'm getting another 3D printer, I was waiting for my payslip so I could see exactly how much extra my bonus adds. But I might have to bite that particular bullet sooner than I'd like... :worried:

Not keen on that delivery time though - showing as 'before June 10th' as the delivery date at the moment :waah:. It's incredible value, for what looks like a brilliant printer, but that's a long time to wait... Especially when the AMS clone is not due until "Q3"...

For the last year or so, Talking Pictures TV has been looping through Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds & Captain Scarlet.
But I do wish they'd add Joe 90 to the playlist!

Don't mess about with gasless wire or the small disposable gas bottles - get a proper bottle and regulator. :dremel:

Lincoln is good gear though, nice choice on a budget.

I've a few pairs of those Tegra gloves, I really rate them. But for welding make sure you're wearing shirt sleeves, I've had sunburn before from running a few rods without my arms covered :hehe:

One of the first things you could try welding together is an outdoor mesh cage for the gas bottles?

Meh, they're only in there until they're house trained - a mop, bucket and lots of newspaper is much cheaper.

    New motor.

Land Rover was starting to play up a bit too often, hopefully this should be a bit better.

    Nice colour!
Land Rovers are one of the nicest places to sit in while they're being repaired.

You could fit a ground anchor and chain the bottle down? Being an inert gas the chance of accelerating a fire or doing significant explosive damage is minimal. The biggest issue is some damage to the valve causing it to start flying about.

My new one to replace my L322 certainly is a lovely place
