    Got it. Ryzen 7 5800x:

Got it swapped in and the old 5 2600x out. Everything up and running just fine, fired up No Man's Sky, something that had started to give me issues in busy places like multiplayer anomoly and a world of difference, no more stuttering. Still running my old 980 Ti so expecting some more changes when my 3060 arrives next week.

Dali Kupid Passive Bookshelf Speakers In Black Ash.

I spent a really long time dwelling on what to do. With the mortgage, I just can’t seem to get my head out of the mindset that I shouldn’t be spending any money and even when I do it needs to be on the house.

I mean, even though I can spend it, it doesn’t necessarily mean I should, I suppose. I just feel guilty buying anything that’s purely for me.

Anyway, after buying the Fosi ZD3 new and picking up the V3 Monos and the P4 pre-amp used, I felt like I needed to hold fire for a bit. But at the same time, I bought all this gear for a specific purpose, and it seemed daft to have it all sitting there without any speakers.

Thought that I would grab a new cooler for my shiny new CPU and grabbed the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 and it arrived today:

Holy crap, it's huge!! I mean given that it uses a 120 and a 140mm fan I knew that it would be chonky, but I wasn't quite expecting this...

I have been running a Corsair H100i AIO for a long time now and I keep happening across things saying that over time the water level in them can drop and so on and so on so I thought I would try air cooling for a bit again, I can always swap back if I want, not going to be throwing the old cooler out.

Plus air cooling is sort of what my case was designed for, the somewhat huge Coolermaster ACTS 840 - https://bit-tech.net/reviews/tech/c...say the ATCS,estate to accommodate this beast. - still one of the best resources for this old beast.

Although I am thinking about swapping out to a new case and using this as my server build, given that the 840 with the right 5.25" bays will easily hold 16 x 3.5" drives...

My ~10yo "could do with a windows system for that" Thinkpad is... well it's 10 years old, and has become increasingly painful to use.

So what started with a mission to get a serviceable but generally rubbish laptop in back Friday sales for £400-ish has followed a thought-exercise of "what if it wasn't rubbish" and ended with an HP Omen 17, Ryzen 7 350, 32GB, 5070 laptop...

My kind of spec creep, that is awesome for a 10yr old, but once the spendy seal was broken you should have crept just a little more to a 5070Ti :D bad dad :p ;)

I believe the old ThinkPad is 10 years old, rather than the new Omen being for a 10 year old...

We got a few in the family this Christmas; Mysterium, Azul Queens Garden, No Thanks!, Cascadia Junior, Nimalia, Monopoly Deal, Outfoxed and Lego Moneky Palace. Also still have Daybreak and Fobidden Desert hanging around from my birthday in October to play...
