Not so much bought as, maybe I should buy, given how watery Somerset is at the moment.

Those are amazing! I have watched too many Sherp videos on YouTube :D

Bournemouth was gridlocked last night by one lane of the dual carriageway out of town being underwater.

50+ mins to do a 20 min run home, similar time for a friend coming the other way on a journey that's usually 12 mins

Much to my annoyance, my wife sold our Delonghi Esam 4200 which was about 15 years old, and going strong, and replaced it with this. A very good machine, but i refuse to use it. It does nothing the Delonghi didn't do, however i don't want to pretend to be a Barista, with the resultant cleaning up to do. With the Delonghi, it was a genuine 1 button press, and empty the waste every 5 or 6th cup when it told you it was needed.

Second hand on eBay, cost as much as a new game but it's a physical copy not a sketch "unopened game key that's definitely not going to get my account locked". Spent a lot of my recovery time post last surgery playing a tiger woods game as I could do it all left handed, with the swing done on the left thumb stick. Now have that and the 2 mario vs rabbids games that should be doable one handed. Should keep me going for a fair while.

Been using a hooked knife for deburring my prints and I always thought people who bigged up deburring tools for cleaning up prints were exaggerating. They are not.

How the turn tables... a Project Debut Pro B, S3B and the requisite mini-xlr cable.

Didn't do stacks of in-depth research as that seemed like a slippery slope, and this seemed about the right "good but still normal" setup so hopefully it ends well.

EDIT: And if any of you vinyl junkies out there have reason to believe I have made a mistake with this particular setup its okay if you keep me in the dark :D

I've got a Pro-Ject Debut Pro (the OG) and am happy as a clam!
I don't have the S3B, I just have a set of powered speakers, Klipsch R51pm

This is good to hear. I felt my inner monologue starting to try to justify ever-esoteric gear so felt the need to shut that right down. This isn't some audiophile pursuit at the end of the day and good enough is good enough.

I theoretically didn't need the S3B either, because I have phono-in capabilities already. Minor issue is all my AV in the house is co-located and this turntable will be living in the room where I'll listen to it for obvious reasons. A minimum 10m stretch buried in walls seemed like bad practice between turntable and phono preamp. And the "B" model was the extra icing on the cake for the very same connectivity reasons.

Seems like a good compromise to me, balanced XLR will be fine over 10 metres and, you can always upgrade the cartridge, to get more from the turntable.

Annual car insurance for £390. Cheap at twice the price :miffed:. A few quid up from last year, but still the lowest I could get for comprehensive.

Having the car serviced on Friday too. This month is going to hurt financially.

A year's car tax for the first time since 2013!

    (Because I've had 2x <100g/km ICE & 2x EVs)

    Next, book an MOT...

This is a rabbit hole I've been wanting to go down for a while, my AV room gets started once the builder has finished doing my living room :) Can't bloomin wait :).

The real rabbit hole I'm finding is rare/limited vinyl. Why would you want a boggo black vinyl when you can have a shiny and colourful one for only 4x the price, amirite?

Funnily enough, I've taken delivery of a new turntable, too - though it's not nearly as swish:

    upload_2026-2-11_11-2-31.png

Sony PS-LX3BT, the new version of the PS-LX310BT. Now with aptX and aptX Adaptive on the Bluetooth side... and a snip at almost twice the price of the device it replaces(!)

Heavy, non-adjustable tracking, but can't fault the sound quality. You have to upgrade to the PS-LX5BT to get lighter tracking - and to remove the dangling phono cables at the back for a phono socket set.

(I wouldn't have picked it myself, not at £300, but I wasn't paying!)
