My wife and I have each bought Meaco Sefte 8” fans, ordered yesterday, due here in the next 2 hours.

We have an old but, not heavily used Dyson floor standing fan. Wasn’t great when new, now struggles to generate a gentle zephyr and, kicks up a racket doing it…

 

For reference, on a fully-charged battery at the lowest setting with oscillation turned on, mine lasted about 3.5hrs.

I tend to use mine in a spot where it’s easy to have it hard-wired to the mains, so I’ve taken the battery out in order to preserve the health of the cells. Unlike the earlier 260C model, it’s really easy to pop the battery in and out.

Though Meaco did lose some points, in my book. The battery might be easy to pop in and out, but it’s a custom battery, and the mains cable is a barrel-jack wall-wart



The earlier 260C model, though much less powerful, used standard 18650 cells that are trivial to replace, and a type-c socket for charging.

 

FYI - Prod that hole under the ... button to pop out the battery tray when the remote dies. It takes a CR2032.

 

Aye, I figured as much. I’ve had to replace batteries on earlier remote models once or twice already.

 

Duly turned-up. People say these fans are quiet but, still didn’t expect them to be quite so quiet, mightily impressed.

Is the 6" Sefte Fan any good? It looks like the 8" is unsurprisingly OOS. I'd like to get something more portable for Mrs A than the excellent Lidl Dyson look alike bladeless fan she's using

 

I have the Sefte 8 and the Sefte 10 pedestal version. Not as powerful as the Shark fans I bought a couple of years ago, but not by much. What they are though is quieter, even at the highest setting.

 

I can't comment on the 6" Sefte but, I would say the 8" is worth waiting for. Check Meaco every day from the first of October and, be prepared for next year.

Just grabbed a switch 2 and a bunch of games, just debating if I get 1 512gb SD card at £111 or grab at 256 for now at £44 and if I need a 2nd grab another 256 at 44.

Age old debate of do you pay more for 1 card or pay less but get the same storage over 2.
To me I'm better of just getting the two and then swapping them out, or get 1 then the 2nd. But reading online more games use the storage this time round.

More annoying I have a 1tb micro SD card but it doesn't work. so that will go in my ally

 

Just bought the Sefte 6 because it was in stock from meaco direct. My work laptop needs constant airflow, and I like quiet fans as well as a fan pointed at me. My office is currently around 32c regularly, so more fans more better. Didn't need it I guess, but it completes the 10, 8 and 6 set which helps my ocd. Apparently it arrives on Tuesday

I recently bought a Meaco Sefte 10" with next day delivery. It took 5 days to arrive, Meaco didn't bother keeping me informed and if I'd read their Trustpilot feedback I would have bought it from Amazon.

It would have been 4 days but the DPD
driver pretended he'd tried to deliver.

I like the fan as the airflow is excellent but it doesn't tilt down enough. The remote is very useful with every setting being controlled from it.

 

This is the only thing I dislike about the desk Sefte fans. The pedestal version of the 10" has vertical as well as horizontal movement which helps. That the pedestal is sectional so it can be a desk fan is also useful.

The 6 I bought, ordered from Meaco late friday night is arriving today (Sunday) via DPD. I didn't choose any special delivery, and it was suppposed to arrive on Tuesday. Assuming it does turn up, I'll call that good service.

Not 20 minutes after the above, the 6 arrived. It is more of the same, just smaller. On full power it's quiet as you like, and still knocks out a decent breeze. All the features of the bigger 8 and 10 versions, just shrunk really (even the remote is smaller). Definitely a step up from from the previous Meaco generations in terms of noise and build quality. Recommended for sure.

 

As per the Awesome thread:

Intel i9 7960X + Asus TUF X299 MB - £130 posted (yet to arrive so no pics yet)
4 x 8GB DDR4 3000C16 - £72 from CeX. Two pairs of otherwise identical RAM (speed, stepping etc) so should be good in quad channel.

Not going to be winning any gaming or efficiency awards but £197 all in excl postage is fine by me for its intended purpose - messing around with Server / Homelab / Multi GPU Test bench / Local LLM (GPU still O/S). Lost out on multiple Zen1 / Zen+ Threadripper bundles (including a complete in box Zenith Extreme based bundle which was annoying from my collection PoV) and didn't want to risk another Epyc board given I don't know if my 7402 is dead or not (VRM went on the SM H11 I had).

I still have my watercooling gear from when I was benching a 7980XE @ 4.6Ghz (~450w under load ) so might even go full water on this one....

Now OOS at Meaco, but ordered from JLP to be delivered tomorrow to the nearest Waitrose. Hopefully I can get it after work, as it should be there by 3pm

 

With all this printer stuff you keep buying you must be clocking up quite a large some of money.
