    Just bought myself an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022)
    Ryzen 9 6900HS
    AMD RX6800s
    8 Whole GB of DDR5 (Soldered on, naturally)
    512GB SSD
    2560*1600 120Hz Display

    The plan is, to Upgrade the RAM to 40GB, Larger SSD, and install Linux, SteamOS or Bazzite.

    My bank account hurts, very very much. haha

    @stephen0205 @Byron C one week in and I've got to say, I'm really liking the fold 8. Cover screen is big enough for most uses; WhatsApp, forum, discord, general browsing, fits good in the pocket, feels good in the hand. Actually a shame to have a case on because if you're brave enough it's proper thin and handles beautifuly, especially when opened up. And on the opening, great for watching YouTube etc if Mrs crap has the TV, and... AND..... you can excel properly! :clap::rock: (Sort of) Screenshot_20260901_204737_Excel.jpg

    Most apps will transition for the small screen to the big screen pretty seemlessly, as in just now I was typing this on the small screen, opened it and it transfers the app to the big screen automatically, got the excel screenshot and then closed it again to continue typing on small screen. A couple of games I play insist on restarting, but logical as the games scale and arranges ui based on resolution and form factor. Excel isn't a massive fan, if I open a sheet in small mode it will open like mobile excel, open the phone and it will still have mobile excel gui. You have to close excel completely and reopen in big mode to get the proper tool ribbon.

    I've yet to find an app that just doesn't work, there apparently some, just not one I use. All banking apps from the 4 bank/credit providers I use are fine, NHS app, the app for my Bluetooth bathroom scales, fiio and jlab earphones apps.. There's a wide variety from all creatures great and small, all seems to scale well.

    Other niggles are probably the same I always have when transitioning from Google to Samsung or visa versa, and fine tuning setup; little quick panel differences, different layouts for file explorers, alarm clock etc. One thing that has been quite annoying is on my pixel 9 I could specify what notification types I could block from within the android settings, but doesn't have that in the Samsung settings, only on or off for all. A bunch of apps (just eat especially) I can't seem to drill down to turn off offers and marketing notifications.

    The internal screen feels weird being soft, takes a bit of getting used to, but have had some great fun playing plants Vs zombies on a bigger screen which makes plant placement much easier with my sausage fingers. One thing that almost pulled my back from getting this and going for the s26 ultra was a stylus, I've missed being able to doodle properly, but the larger screen is really good for drawing, can draw lines where I want them first time consistently.

    Oh and the folding itself, definitely feels weird when you do it the first few times. There's quite a bit of resistance to get over, but once you get used to the force it requires and how best to hold it to fold and unfold, it becomes natural quite quickly.

    I really hope they continue making this format and it's not a one off. It's where folding should be at.

    That is class, I got to play with a work mates one the other day, defo feels odd in the hand to start with, not quite the same as my v6, still happy with my purchase but think i might take a gander at new form factors in a few years ager this :p.

    I love using mine for large spreadsheets :)

    Finally pulled the trigger on a printer. I would have liked a tool changer to reduce printer poop but the cheapest one is basically double the price of this.

    Price reduced recently to £419 with a free Anniversary Pack worth £35.98 (no idea what this is) and a discount code brining it down to £404 with free delivery.

    Was slightly my issues too. The cheapest multi-with chamber I think is the new FFC5PRO, which is £750 with free filament. Currently.

    I wanted multitool. Was #1. And I’ve gone for a more expensive one. With ‘less’ out of the box - which is mad and will see if I regret it. - and #2 I want to be able to do ABS. Which it isn’t good for (out of the box). but open source and been around longer. More community etc around it.
    I also didn’t realise just how expensive TPU is, and I want to do quite a bit with that.

    and it’s just arrived with a bag ripped open on the outside (was only power cable, still in it) - I just let 123 know, they’ve offered £5 off next order. Which they didn’t have to, I just wanted to make sure nothing else was meant to be in the bag. Lol
    So, yay. But now I have to wait until Friday to even try and put it together. :waah:

    old windows box being used as a fileserver is dying, so have splashed the cash on a NAS to replace it.
    WHilst a homebrew/DIY setup would be more fun, i just don't have the time or energy to set it up/maintain it so i just want something that works/is easy...

    My server setup is an old laptop attached to a Netgear ReadyNAS for exactly the same reason. Perhaps one day I'll get there but for now I've just not got the energy to educate myself and build such a thing.
