Two Dell PowerEdge R710 servers :D:D:D:D:D:D

    Each one has:

    2x E5540 Nehalem processors
    72GB of RAM (18x 4GB sticks)
    6x 146GB 15k SCSI drives

    Also, 16x 600GB SAS drives.

We're doing a "slight upgrade" at work :D

SLIGHT UPGRADE?!:jawdrop: Damn, how much did all that put you back? Either way, nice! What all are the servers doing? Must be doing some serious number crunching with all that ram (quick someone do a "dat ass" demot on "dat ram":D)

From a quick build on the dell site, £5500 for each server, plus ~£5500 for an expansion DAS, more if it's a SAN.

Servers were $7,800 each, so pretty close on that front, but the SAN is a bit more. Don't have the exact specs on it, but I do have the bill. Just short of $40k :jawdrop:

Also note we do a lot of business with Dell (as a large number of companies do) so we get a bit of a discount.

I've built a TON of Dell rack mount stuff with dual Xeons. Nice stuff but I never figured out what that folding arm thingy they send with rack mounts is for or what it fits. High end Dell is the bee's knees. Costly but comes through.

Haha yeah, we need enough to seat a 30 multi table tourney, hence explaining why there are so many. It was a bit unnerving opening the first case, and finding 500 chips of the same colour 0_0

Funnily enough, I was going to say dip. That's a strange little culture exchange.
