Turn the lights off - drink the beer and eat the pizza. Save the candy. WIN!

    £15 on cheap servos
£17 on resistors, capacitors, diodes, LEDs, LDRs, transistors, potentiometers and various semiconductors.

Damn I hope this plan works... and I hope I don't have to shell out another £5 on photodiodes...

Damn I hate the time zones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't get a chance to glorify this occasion with The Ferrets. I will rectify that now.

    Ferrets are the ****!

Ha, I hear you on that! I still got like 3 more years. What legal drinking age in the UK? Isnt it 18? (heard rumors from some cumdumpster from the UK, shes a disgrace to the country)

LDRs will work fine (assuming you ae making a light following robot) If you are making a line following one you will need the photodiodes, IR ones are the ones we used in class.

Wrong on both counts, I'm afraid.

Fun project for you though; the line following robot really doesn't need much precision, so you can 'hack' an LED into acting as a photodiode by using a couple of op-amps (not tried it, but you might get away with a Darlington pair/Wheatstone bridge style arrangement) so you end up using 4 infared LEDs to do the emitting and sensing. If you were trying to be really clever, and have a very fast uC you might even be able to use just 2 LEDs and like a SONAR crystal, alternately pulse and receive.

    Food for thought, I guess.

So you can continue the thrill of drinking illegaly for a few more years.

OT: Many pints of Doom Bar. I really, really, wish I hadn't because it spent all night wailing on me, and I left the pub before closing time.
