make a frame that you mound a few CM from the wall, and let the LEDs (With a good diffuser) shine into the wall along the edge. It will give the illusion of a canvas floating in front of the wall.

 

Thanks, I was thinking about sanding the tip off the LED's, I've seen this done on a couple of computer mods and it diffuses them quite well.

I had to sand a bunch of LEDs a while ago. I simply made a jug out of scrap pieces of wood and acrylic glass. Made it lot easier.

The easiest thing to do though is to just buy some ready made LED tubes. (square ones are easiest to mount and take up less space.

 

Well, you can get 5 meters of ready-made LED "cable" from eBay for 30 dollars, I was contemplating buying two of those.
