It's detailing season again, so I bought some more Collinite 465S wax for my car. I went through 11 ounces of it in 10 months - been waxing a lot of things, including 3 cars on a regular basis! I also got a couple of other bits and bobs like interior trim dressing and a wheel brush. Pics of the car at just over a year old to come in the "Detailing products & techniques" thread once I get it done - I've been doing the prep work for a full detail session when I've had the time over the past few weeks, overall it's not in bad shape for a year old car that's hardly ever off the road.

I also had it's first service done earlier this week - took it back to the dealer as it had a warranty issue to be sorted out, and Dad is sick at the moment anyway so couldn't have serviced it for me. Changed the oil, oil filter, pollen filter, air filter and had everything else that's standard for a first minor service checked out. It's not going another year without having the oil changed though, I'm going to do it and the filter myself every 6 months from now on. That was the dealership mechanics recommendation after I mentioned to him how much smoother it was running after the oil change.

Other things that I want to get for it in the next while but can't justify buying at the moment are a 57i induction kit, a Kinetic KC1800 battery and some 0 gauge wire and performance battery terminals to upgrade the stock and frankly weak electrical system. They're all going have to go on the waiting list and be looked at in about 6 months time though. The thing is costing a big enough fortune to run at the moment without starting to spend money on after market components.

I loved this series as a kid, I probably still have this on video somewhere. I didn't know the series is older than me.

Nop, a drivers license in Denmark costs around 10.000 DKK, which should amount to around 1000-1100£

But that's with 10 theory lessons of 90 minutes, 12 driving lessons of 90 minutes, a 7 hour first-aid course, a trip to a raceway for basic motorhandling and a trip to a "wet/slippery" raceway for non-ideal driving.

After all that, I have to pass a theory test and a practical test organised by the danish police force.

And THEN I have my driving license.

    holy crap !

It cost me 550 a few years ago and that's only because I wanted to take courses, otherwise it could have cost me like 50$ just to do the exam :hehe:

I'd rather have everything as cheap as you guys get it on top of your rebates, than have a bit of extra choice. We have GTX 580's going for 380 pounds, or 590 US dollars, while you guys get them for 400? GTFO tbh. :sigh:

I can't remember exactly what my lessons, theory test and practical test cost to do 6 years ago... I know for a fact that it was nowhere near £1000 though :eeek: I paid something like £30 per 60 minute lesson, had 10 of them... then the theory test might have cost another £30, the practical was in around £60 and the use of my instructors car was probably £60 as well.

we don't have theory lessons here well not that i know

I went online found all the theory tests i could find and memorized the answers (kept doing the tests so i got 50 out of 50 without barely reading the question) got 47 out of 50 on the real thing those 47 questions all came up on the ones i done online the other 3 i never seen before

About 30 lessons £100 for 5 then £50 for theory or something like that and £72 for test + instructor car £40 with an hour lesson before

The main advantage of all those lessons... people can actually bloody well drive. Hell, even if it makes people aware what the feck an indicator is, is worth well over 1,000 quid in my opinion.

Irish roads are filled with morons and imbeciles as there is still no compulsory training. It's beginning now in April apparently, but the quality varies dramatically and all you'll end up doing is driving in circles. Give me the Finnish, or any other scandinavian system any day of the week.

Yeah the main benefit of it is that it prepares people in some way for the real thing. But as a result of the price, most of us "youngsters" doing a driving course here in Denmark spends a couple of nights in our parents cars on some of the huge parking lots in the area. Saves on the extra courses you have to take ;)

Most people pass the theory test on their 2nd or 3rd try and pass their practical on the 1st or 2nd try.

And then some people get to spend AGES driving.

My main issue with our system is the fact that when I get my driving license this summer at age 18 I don't have to take another test for the next 52 years. At age 70 you have to have a medical examination and a follow-up driving test.

Theory test last March was around £42, I've paid for 20hrs of practical lessons which has cost £440 and my practical test in 2 weeks was £68. Hopefully that'll be a one off...

Yeah, I got off lightly at (probably) less than £500 for the lot although it was a while ago so you have to factor inflation when calculating the approximate cost of learning to drive these days. I also passed both the theory and practical the first time round, so there were no repeat test expenses, additional lessons etc.

    What is this, price wars?
GTX 580's go for at least 3600kn (430 pound equivalent).
Driving school is around 7000 to 8000 kn (850 - 950 ish pounds) with 15 hours of theory, 30 hours of driving practice, 6 hours of first aid and all three exams...

Thankfully my theory test only cost me €38 (passed first time and the test is no more difficult than walking to the shop) and paid €90 in lessons to familiarize myself with the route taken at the time.

Irish road rules are pretty random, when they first introduced drivers licences they just let people turn up, asked them what wanted to drive and gave them thier licence on the spot. I've a friend who's mum or grandmother has a licence to drive an HGV. Shes never had reason to use it.

The other thing is learners are allowed on the road unaccompanied as soon as they get a provisional licence. It used to be they could stay on the provisional licence for as long as they wanted. I think its reviewed now though.

Things i've bought... a 3DS and lego star wars. SCROLLING INTRO TEXT IN 3D.
