Why 4 of them? I can't imagine anything needing more than 3.

Good enough reason then :) So long as you have a reason, no matter how tenuous.. you're fine :)

I know I shouldn't have, but feck it, it's my money. Just ordered a Dell U2711 27" monitor. Sad thing is I'll have to get a better graphics card. On the upside, maybe the lack of decent frame rates will get me to do more work and play less pc game??? xD

Still amazes me that people think building a top of the range enthusiast grade PC is out of this world and crazy. Yes, it's an incredibly powerful setup and close to £2k is a lot to pay for graphics cards... but is it seriously beyond your comprehension that some people make and save enough money to be able to buy things like this?

I'd need a fair amount of money before I decided 4 7970s were worth buying - in a year and a bit they'll be just over half that!

    ^ This :D

Wouldn't be on this forum if I wasn't a bona fide enthusiast - one day I'll have a monster set-up like that but most likely on the Nvidia side but until then mortgage/bills/ever increasing food/travel costs and no chance of a payrise (I'm a teacher and we're getting pretty screwed over atm - and NO I didn't strike as it'll make a difference to my pension income 30 years down the line) means I have to wait for birthdays/Christmas/windfalls of any kind to be able to afford new hardware without feeling guilty at spending money that could be put to better use elsewhere.

Congrats on whatever job you do that lets you bung out £2000 or having the willpower to save that kinda money for what is ultimately an expensive hobby (unless you are a professional programmer/do some amazing shizz with photo-shop/render FX for major films and get to write them off against tax as a professional tool)

I do look forward to seeing some benches and wonder what screens you're driving with those beasties as having one u2711 would be a criminal waste

Wasn't even looking at the price so it was Nice surprise when I got to the till lol Unfortunately my GF spent the left over amount on the 14th =(

    Single gang blanking plate
Electric shower 50amp pull cord switch
6 pack of A4 picture frames

That takes care of a few little projects that needed doing around the flat. :)

Noctua NF-P12, the guy at NCIX gave it to me for 14.99 instead of 20.99 and I'm happy with it. Think I'll go back to buy a 2nd and put them on my h80 since it's the loudest thing in my PC. The h80 fans don't move much air on low, these Noctua's are damn good. Didn't realize a higher end fan would be so effective.

A Samsung Omnia 7 from Computer Exchange to replace my knackered 3yo HTC Touch Pro.

    Wasn't bad for £165.

I hear you, and see where you're coming from, but I still don't get it. I make enough to spend £2k on graphics cards, but then I don't see the point as I'm just as happy playing games on my £200 PS3...

Different stroke for different folk. I'm happy to drive around in my car and not put neon lights etc on it when I have the money to do so, but don't see the point in spending money on making my car look cheap and tacky.
