Chinchill Uni. I recently went through and tore-down the remains of my Watercooling system (Since It all went horribly wrong last-time, which I still don't understand.) I remember having to use a set of spanners to tighten down the fittings, because I couldn't physically get the grip on them with my fingers. Undoing them with my fingers took a lot of work. My thumb went a little numb after a while.

Shame the tubing has all clouded up to heck, because it's actually all still in reasonable condition.

Besides, I would've thought that, by now, everyone would know about my penchant for exaggeration, you especially, Uni.

Uni... Bro five. I didn't mean to irk. :waah:

I just think they are big and cumbersome. I much prefer just a standard silver fitting, like this, and then with a somewhat sleek jubilee clip, like this.. I just think it looks much more refined. I love the comp fittings Nexxo used back in the day when everyone else used barbs and clamps. I think that's part of the problem. Everyone and their mother uses comp fittings thesedays. I also remember right-angles being a complete no-no in watercooling, and now they are everywhere! :sigh:

Too each their own though I suppose.

I tend to think both are rather unreliable, so I swapped them out for stainless steel pushfits on Knight's Rest. Still got to pick up my tubing (316 stainless) but I need to be in the assembly phase to make that work.

I do get what you're saying about world+dog has them. Occasionally one gets tired of that, and does something different. Like I am now.

I knew you were exaggerating, but I still don't have any trouble getting the ring onto compression fittings  It's as easy as barbed fittings for me. I sort of suspect that you're using tubing with too thick a wall diameter for your fittings. I can see how that would make them hard to fit.

Consider yourself bro-fived. They're there for function over form in this build - it's going in a plain case with no windows and will have nobody looking at it except me, when it comes time to service the loop again. To each their own indeed, I still use both compression and silver barb fittings in my own loops and everyone elses. I don't even have a preference... My LC folding rig ran on jubilee clipped DD hi-flow barbs 24/7 for two and a half years and looked great, and my second workstation is full of Bitspower compression fittings at the moment and also looks great. Neither have ever leaked a drop :)

But I've just said that no compression fittings have ever leaked on me... How can you think that both are unrelible when hundreds of people use them in hundreds of systems for years without issue?

All I really care about is that they make up part of a loop that keeps the silly thing cool and stable at 4.2GHz. It's completely wasted on its owner anyway

If you saw how many peeled fittings I took off to the recycler, or how many leaking ones I took off, you'd understand why. No more plating, no more need for wrenches, no more ground off knurling, and my loop is rated for extreme pressures-my tubing is 316 stainless as well. You can't use hard tubing with barbs or compressions.
