You really missed out on not playing the original when it was released. Unfortunately it's really dated, though the underlying game is amazing. Gameplay was FPS but was how you wanted it to be! Stealthy or shooty - your choice.

I'm probably counting my chicks before they hatch but Deus Ex Revolution simply cannot afford to be a let down.

Edit: and Dead Space bought for exactly the same reasons as Crysis!

Just got Dead Space (the first one) on STEAM, even though I have a physical copy of it, still shrinkwrapped. At 3.75€ the price was OK.

What isn't OK, however, is the Euroland rip-off for Dead Space 2. I never was very good at math, but last I checked 30€ isn't the same as £18.

As for DE:HR, I'd preorder it on Amazon at £35 (and most probably will) for the Augmented Edition. That'd set me back 54€ on STEAM, by the way.

And you really ought to play the original DE, even though the graphics is a bit dated. It's 1st person, but apart from System Shock (1 & 2) there's not really a game like it. If anything I'd say it's more akin to Thief, but that isn't really true either.

OK, thanks for your imput Pete & azrael.

Looks like Deus Ex Revolution is a go!

And I agree, older games can still be amazing.

Half-Life Source and Unreal for starters.

There supposedly are some HD texture patches for the original Deus Ex. I've never tried them, though.

Doesn't protect from Valve disabling your account and wiping your Steam collection (see here for one example, plenty of others around). To be fair, this applies (to a lesser extent mostly) with other online stores (GamersGate, Impulse, Direct2Drive) with GOG and independent online vendors (e.g. GamersFront) being the only exceptions.

There's a useful guide to setting up Deus Ex (with various mods and texture packs) here.

Battlefield AND Medal of Honour today on STEAM.

    Bad Company 2 £6.80
    BC2 Vietnam £5.99
    BC2 SPECACT kit £1.99
    BF2 Complete collection £3.75

    Medal of honour (latest) £9.99
    Airborne £2.50

Personally I don't think there's anything in that worth buying, Might as well save the money and put in a pre order for BF3.

Soooo, its Battlefield and Medal of Honor day. Bad Company 2 @ £6.80 - which is the same price it was at xmas. Basically deal of the century.

    BC2: Vietnam @ £4.99, new Medal of Honor @ £9.99 and Medal of Honor Airborne @ £2.50
