    Linking your Steam account is a requirement.

    I'm not sure of any potential drawbacks to linking, but I've avoided doing it so far.

    I can't think of any significant drawbacks. I've noticed no real difference with either account since I linked them and I trust Humble at least as much as I trust Valve. It's just slightly more convenient.

    Although in this case actually gave me a code to activate on Steam anyway, rather than using my linked account.

    Battleborn has sort of gone Free to Play at last! It's called a Free trial, but it isn't time limited. You just have a limited selection of Heroes available that rotate each week. Honestly, the game is loads of fun, they just didn't market it at all and everyone thought it was like Overwatch. It's nothing like it. It's a MOBA!
