They didn't. Developers / publishers complained Steam and other stores following suit were killing them. Only around 2011 did things change.

Exactly, it changed like a f**king decade ago so why bring it up?
If you want to criticise Valve go ahead but don't bring up crap that hasn't had anything to do with reality for that long.

Nope, I simply have standards when it comes to bitching about things...

Pocketing 30% of almost every sale, the completely broken mobile app, etc etc... plenty of real stuff to complain about, so no need for bringing up stuff that has nothing to do with reality as it exists now.

It's like when people call Fortnite gay, it just makes me want to boil them alive, on the other hand if they called it boring and repetitive I'd have no problem with that.

I think Fortnite looks like a pretty up-beat and happy game. Why would you boil me for that?

Interesting - I think my copy of Superhot came via a Humble Bundle and was redeemed on Steam as a code, so I wonder if it counts for the purpose of the giveaway? Guess I'll find out in a couple of days!

    EDIT:
    Oh, that's nice.

GoG has quite a nice sale on various RPGs for the next two and a half days:

Also for the 2.something heathens on the planet who haven't played it yet, there is a bunch of old interplay stuff on sale as well, including Freespace 2 for £2.89.

Ubisoft are now giving 20% off in the store if you use 100 of those pretend coins you earned.

    https://store.ubi.com/uk/home

It makes new releases like Watch Dogs Legion (just pre-ordered), Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6 only £39.99. In WDL's case, it makes it cheaper than Epic (the only other place selling it on PC, and you'd redeem it on Uplay anyway).

If you don't know what I'm talking about - if you have an Ubisoft (Club) account, you earn 'coins' for playing games and normally can buy in-game stuff with them (outfits, maps, boosts). If you've played a series like Assassin's Creed and never noticed, you've probably amassed quite a lot.

That coin thing has been the case for quite some time. Got me some nice bargains.
