No LLU/CN21 at my current house either - I'm down to 8Mb and I get traffic shaped from about 3 in the afternoon until midnight too, which sucks. I've never run into the FUP, but it's down as a business line so it'll be pretty high.

After a 24Mb line it feels rather slow and rubbish. :(

I'm on LLU and only get about 4 - 5MB, damn copper lines. I can't get cable around my area either.

You're either very close to the exchange, or have very high quality wiring - you're getting >90% of your theoretical maximum speed

I just moved onto an LLU and now get 300k/s instead of 50k/s

It's still comparatively awful, but at least it's a usable speed now.

You can tell the games on sale today are rubbish... We're all talking about broadband speeds ;)

Only 25 minutes to wait until the next deals show - the topic might change slightly from how terrible UK broadband is then :)

Tempted to GTAIV for £5, but nothing else appeals. I tried the ARMA II demo and it felt rubbish to control. Great gameplay no doubt, but if I can't get the feel right it won't really do.

It's good, but they released an update today which means I have to download ALL 7GB again before I can play it.

/back to topic on broadband speed.

Bought the X-COM pack for 2.24, awesome games if you can get into them.

Ouch! €7·50 is just over £6. I know we get shafted on the £ for $ bit but didn't realise you got clobbered as much in €! :eeek:

I think it's the turn based aspect of the games that many find a touch awkward. Personally I enjoy taking my time to plan my attack (and, incidentally, seeing it go pear shaped much of the time) so they've always had something that appealed to me.

Is TF2 worth a go at that price? I've never actually played it as when it came out initially I was still playing RTCW: Enemy Territory and since then I just haven't bothered. I love my team based FPS games but just never seem to have got round to this one.

Incidentally, I have finally got my download of Force Unleashed and am backing it up post haste to the external HDD. I really don't want to have to wait 2+ days from purchasing the game to playing it but I know for certain that it will happen again :( I just wonder what they've added from the 360 version that more than triples the game size!

    *sigh*

    At least you have broadband...

In Bog Village, Ireland, I'm languishing on a 3G dongle which is heavily over-used as it's the ONLY alternative to dial-up. And we've only had that since Christmas. Try keeping Steam updated, or downloading games on that! *ick*

What kills me is that we've been on eircom's (like a little BT) list for getting DSL in our exchange for years. They just haven't finished the work.

Way things are going I'd be delighted to have a 1Mbps line. :(
