its that time again when i have to wire an lcd but this time it has a LED backlight there are 2 gaps that stop the bcklight from being powered by the main supply the first is marked j and is just a small gap that i can bridge with solder but the other is marked R8 so im wondering if i need to add a resistor to the board or if theres one built into the backlight

    cheers

well i got tired of waiting ;) so i just plugged the backlight in and it didnt fry but the whold unit is getting very hot. its so hot its melting the glue gun glue on a little bit of it. is this usual for backlit lcds? also the ICs on the back are a too hot.

    any ideas?

Yes, you need a resistor. The whole thing should run totally cool.

    Try a ~30R resistor.
