I got a guy that is willing to sell 30 lcds as a group buy. it is a 2x16, non backlit, contrast adjustable lcd. $3 a piece plus shipping, I could ship them out and act as the middle man, I purchased one of them the other day and when I got it yesterday it worked great. I ordered 2 more today and will take some pics as soon as I get them. I will only do this if I can get 30 orders so send me an email with a quantity to lcd@nothingtrend.com ::EDIT:: ok since I couldnt get the 30 he is willing to sell 15 at $4 a piece. Anyone still interested email me your order at lcd@nothingtrend.com DEADLINE FOR ORDERS IS MONDAY 2/9/04
These lcd's work farly well, and are easily set up for parallel. It took me about 12 minutes to solder it up. Like I said as soon as I get the two new ones I will take some pics. I will also make parallel cables for anyone who needs one at $1.50.
hi, do you have any more information on them? datasheets? pinouts? specs? when you say 'limit' do you mean I can't order 5? I would probably go for 5 if you did allow that...
I got rid of the limit, so you can order as many as you want, I just figured a limit would allow more people to get one. Pinout is as follows: 1 Ground 2 Vdd (+5) 3 Vee (contrast) 4 RS 5 RW 6 E (Clock Line) 7-14 Data0 - Data7
I was wondering the same thing actually, I am going to try to add one when I get the other two I ordered. How would you go about that animus?
I too am interested in this, now i am subscribed so i can keep an eye on this. I want to know specs of these lcd screens, seeing as how i have bought cheap lcds in the past that were 4 bit and only had 10 leads. if these things work good i will be interested in buying around 4. JEEVES
backlighting LCDs depends a lot on the LCD, but i wouldn't want to have to buy EL stuff for these cheap ones, just a few flat leds.
I attempted to backlight the first one I got last night, and it appears that it isnt easy, since it didnt work. I was using a standard led tho.
sorry about the double post... i meant to edit the first post and i guess i hit reply instead of edit
I'll shoot you an e-mail when i get home but i'm thinking about 3 total EDIT: i was struck with this idea...since they are 2 line can you stick one right under the other and use them sort of as 4 line even though you would have a little space?
well, I havnt recieved the two new ones, as soon as I do I will have more info. But if I cant get 30 orders, I will need to contact the guy again and see if he can do a smaller order. I will keep everyone posted.
I'll take 2, provided you can give me instructions on soldering a parallel cable to it and getting it to work. rathius12 [at] yahoo [dot] com
