Hello all, this is my first post on these forums. I just wanted to ask this question. I recently purchased a : 24" LCD HDTV / Monitor for use as a monitor, but I have a few serious questions. Well currently at the time of righting this post I am using the above monitor, and I have to squint to even read my text. Some details: Native resolution is 1920 x 1080, but I had to manually change it to 1828 x 1030 for it all to be within the screen (at native, things were outside). I am using a HDMI cable to connect my monitor to my Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 Seeing as it is a good connection (HDMI) with a good resolution and 1080p, not to meniton the good video card it shouldn't be like this. The text is so unbearable to read that I have to squint and be really close to even read what I am typing right now. The text just doesn't look right, it is very blurry and fuzzy looking. Everything else is mostly fine as far as pictures and videos and stuff, but there is like a white-border esque to the text and small images. I tried changing the sharpness and other various settings on the TV / Monitor but that didn't help anything. If somebody could help me to make my new LCD TV (that I use as a monitor...) to look good and have the text clear please let me know! Answers highly appreciated, thanks!
You're running it at a non-native resolution which really screws up the image quality on LCD panels. They can display non-native, but they have to pull all kinds of tricks to make it work. The result is extreme blurryness. Set it back at it's native resolution and then use the screen controls to adjust the image so it fits right on your monitor. If your monitor includes an auto adjust feature just use that and it should automatically resize the image to fit the screen.
Yes, I did do the resize thing in Nvidia control panel, but it changes it from native when you do that. Now my resolution is like 1838 x 1028 or something instead of 1920 x 1080 for it to fit in the screen. When it's on native it just goes outside of screen on all borders. So it is impossible for me to go on native. Besides, about the auto-adjust or whatever you said ; my computer is picking up my monitor as a Generic PnP monitor. I am not sure if there are any drivers or anything for my monitor. Let me know if you can help.
I think what Neogumbercules meant was, set the output from your graphocs card to 1920x1080, Then using the Monitor's On Screen Controls, adjust the image Manual or Auto adjust feature, if present) until it fits into the viewable area. I don't think the GFX Card is the problem, it's outputting the image correctly at 1920x1080, it the Monitor which isn't then displaying that correctly. Check the documentation that came with your monitor.
I checked the manuals and other documentation and didn't find anything. How do I find the image manual or auto adjust? I don't see anything about this. The text is just hard to read, and to fit into the screen on my display I need the resolution of 1842 x 1036 instead of 1920 x 1080.
I meant to say, manually adjust the image size, or auto adjust feature. Is there a menu on the monitor that you can access by pressing some buttons on the front of it? If so, there should be options in the to adjust the size and position of the image, here you should be able to adjust the image so that it's all in the viewable area. If the monitor supports 1920x1080, it should do just that, and accept nothing less. What OS are you running?
Some info on the monitor would be useful, (make, model etc...) It may be that you TV doesnt support that res from a PC?
Yes, there should be a physical set of buttons on the actual monitor, just leave the PC settings alone and let it display in its native resolution while you adjust the image quality through the buttons on the display itself. Just play around with various image settings until you find what works for you, it's not too difficult, you should have a great display in about 10 minutes.
I am using vista 64-bit. This is my monitor I am using an HDMI. It is actually a LCD HDTV that you can use as a monitor, and none of the buttons on the remote or side of the TV/monitor involve positioning. The only way for me to get it into the screen is by changing resolution to a custom, 1842 x 1036. And this is my video card. Looking forward to replies ! Let me know if you need any more info. *EDIT* I am trying to find the screen adjust feature on the monitor but it isn't in any of the menus and it isn't any of the physical buttons.
Well, i'm at a loss with this one. I did find some Vista drivers whilst nosey around Sceptre's website. There is a particular file called sceptre_vista_certified.inf which could be of some help, although I'm dubious it's a driver issue. The zip file can be downloaded from the link below. ftp://ftp.sceptre.com/pub/monlcd/sceptre.zip EDIT: Couldn't find a manual for your model, but I did manage to find one for the X370BVFHD, which I'm assuming is the same model type, only with a larger 37" panel. According to this manual, you can access the On Screen Display menu, by pressing the Menu button on the remote. There are various settings that can be played with in the Set-up sub-menu. Also, have you tried pressing the "Aspect" button to alter the aspect ratio? Accidentally pressed the "Zoom" button, which would bugger up the viewable area? A few things you can try, as I'm out of ideas on this one.
Thank you for looking into it. However in the Setup sub-menu of the "Menu" on the remote these are the following options: OSD Language - English Time Setup Reset Default And in the display sub-menu these are the following: Picture Mode - Custom Brightness - 53 Contrast - 50 Saturation - 50 Hue - 0 Sharpness - 4 Color Temperature - Cool ...Advanced Video DNR - Strong CTI - Strong Flesh Tone - On Adaptive Luma Control - On Blue Back - On Backlight - 65 Any other setting in the menu is for Audio. The file didn't do anything for me. And it doesn't mention anything about this in the manual. Regarding the aspect ratio : It is set on Full right now, and the only other option to set it as is 4:3 which looks terrible and takes up a very small portion of the screen. Looking forward to you're reply. -Thanks
I'm wondering it it's just masking off the edge behind the bezel or something. After all.. it's not a monitor... it's a television... and it's advertised as such, and TVs don't always pay so much attention to stuff like this. After all, on a TV, who cares if a slight amount is cropped off. You'd never know anyway.
What do you mean? So how can I make it so I can use native resolution and be able to read text better. The text is just not outlined good, I don't know how else to explain it.
What I mean is... maybe the bezel of the TV just cuts off the edge of the screen when it's at native. Normally, you wouldn't notice on a TV picture because all the logos and titles on TV shows are way offset anyway for people who still use 4:3. Standards aren't as critical. So when you resize it to fit your screen... you're taking out of native. As for text sharpness... well.. again.. it's not a computer monitor, it's a TV. It's never going to rival a dedicated monitor for sharpness. I'm assuming you bought it new? Can you not just return it for a replacement of refund? Sounds to me like it's just a cheap TV.. probably perfectly fine as a TV... but not really ideal for a computer monitor.
So if I use vga instead of HDMI it should be able to be in native resolution? Won't I lose a ton of quality? Also, if you know any good 21-24" monitors that are good for gaming could you let me know a good brand or website? If not a specific make/model. Thanks for all your help! Looking forward to your reply.
