Hi! I 've got myself an LCD from a cardphone in greece. Don't ask how I got it, it's a long story! What I'm asking for is a way to connect it to my PC. I could send pictures scanned to help you. It's my second mod (the first one was changing my cases' power led to a BLOO one). Thanks a lot...

well, a couple of things you should look at before getting started on anything. first off, is it only a text type screen, a.k.a. 20x2 or something or does it have custom symbols on it like a cellphone screen does (such as ringer, signal strength, etc.) if its got custom symbols, its probably a screen that's made specifically for that company and will have a really strange pin-out. secondly, take a look at the back and the little controller chip on it, see if it says HD44780 on it. hopefully it will. next step, check for a manufacturer name and serial number on it, and use those to run a search, you'll probably be able to find a tech sheet on the internet to it (just to confirm the pin assignments) if your screen has these things (regular text display and HD44780 controller) you're in good shape. check out my web page at www.ohiomuni.net/~cjyoder and look under my projects at my main pc. toward the bottom i've got a handy hookup diagram for your standard LCD, as well as a link to some good control software. hope that helps.
