This can't be right....? Was on IceHW, reading the article PrAnKsTeR Sent me, checked the forums. Someone said "do not use cable over 1 meter " when wiring parallel lcds? Something to do with signal integrity? That can't be right, can it? I mean, printers work further away than 1m.... Confirm/deny anyone?
Well, possibly not, but the cable I'm using to experiment with wiring ATM is 2m long. Is this why I could only get a test signal last nite, even tho I double double checked my wiring? Cos my cable is 2m long?
1m isn't long enough to cause data corruption. With longer cables the signal suffers from attenuation, the data bits sent are recieved out of sync with each other. I've never experienced it but I guess it would happen at ~5-6m.
Nuts. So it was just my shaggy wiring. Grr. Time to start again. I'm almost glad I pulled the 25 pin adapter off the end of the wire in frustration...... ChriX: I have the same LCD as you seem to have, the Mappers RM88V. Did yours work ok? what software do you use with it? I know there are lots of freeware progs about, I just wondered which one you have working with an identical display.
Yeah! Finally managed to get it to go. Must have been my poor soldering skillz. Woohoo! An LCD to call my own....
