I was sittin up last night listening to the 100 km/h winds that blew through here and went hey that kinda sounds like my case. Then I thought to myself, "Self," and I knew it was because of the sound of my voice, "do you think you could mount a 40x2 LCD or VFD on the end of a cdrom, you know kinda like the piece on the end of the tray?" I than said I dont know, but we better ask the crew at bit tech. Thats the last time i go to bed after eating my moms meatloaf... Anyways could it be done a LCD on the end of a CD-ROM drive tray and make it look reasonably good? Would it make a good mod or more befit a custom case?
I don't see why you couldn't, you would probably want to put a piece of clear plastic or something on the lower corner though so that you wouldn't touch the LCD whenever you open the drive (don't want to get it all oily ) That would be very cool.
Some suggested this to me the other day , its a good idea but I can see a couple of draw backs right away , first the cd tray may not like this added weight on it The wires could interfer with the drive as well. I am looking into it cos I am out of drives And it would look kewl
