ha who's laughin now ! I was just reading your article on the spot lights. I found a very similar product in the USA at a local supermarket in the auto section about 6 months ago. I changed the LED's to go with my theme and they look great! However seems how I have a black cathode I need the reactive casing. Mine are solid silver and I replaced the double sticky tape with Velcro pads so they can be adjusted up and down and side to side now. Every one thought it was stupid when I did it. I'll bet they won't scoff at you though heheh you da man! Do you know where to get those in the USA?
Yeah my mate has had a set of those lighting up the footwells in his car (Nova) for ages. They work great. He got 'em from Halfords for about £13 ouch!
Seen them around in the modified car scene for ages... I made my own, being the cheapskate i am, with ultrabright bl00's Made a reflector out of foil and cased it with some nice shrinking!! they are much brighter than these, only difference is i cant focus mine, wish i could. All in all think mine cost roughly £1.20 or so to make... They are lighting up my boot at the moment, never thought of using them in a PC, may just go make some now!!
cool! and you can aim them anywhere... hmmm.. *points them at brothers eyes* that'll teach you to use my computer! muhaha
5" spot at 16" = 18 degrees. HI blue leds have a 15 degree viewing angle. So is the lens doing anything? Ghetto version with 99p keyring torch & crocodile clip
The lens does make a difference, albeit small but significant. The spot is quite bright, moreso than without the lens. There is a difference between viewing angle and a focussed beam.
