Anybody know if the new LED Arrays at CCM can be modified to respond to say the harddrive. So it only moves when the harddrive has a read/write? Would be a nice mod if can be done?
well......most HD's have leds on them on the bottom most of the time.....mine do at least....all you'd have to do is desolder the original leds and solder in whatever the hell you just said....or the Hd activity thingy on the mobo.....hope that helps
Yeah but this is an array of 16 LEDs that moves from side to side like the Knight Rider Car.. It is powered from 12V. and just comes on and goes back and forth.. i am after a mod that will only excute the movement when to Hard drive has activity!!!
Im not the greatest with electronics, but if you could find a way to boost the signal from the harddrive LED upto 12v you should be able to do it that way. There is one problem that I have noticed in your concept. Im not sure how fast those things move back and forth, bc i have not got mine, yet, but most HDD's read in bursts. Everytime it reads, it will start over, so i doubt you will ever see it make it all the way across, much less back... Once again, I could be wrong on all of htis, but im pretty sure of it...
Good idea! you are right though it would restart from the beginning of the sequence everytime! and how long would it actually last! hmm.... Needs to have some sort of trigger from the IDE LED! And also needs some sort of memory I suppose to remember where it is in the sequence! Maybe this is a Mod for the Manufactures to take into consideration as a different model! It would be good if they could do it!
Check out my last post in this thread: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6046 It can be done.
