so, I put some LEDs in my computer, like so
    Code:
    5v ------------------------------------------
              r r r
             led led led
    gnd------------------------------------------

the ones on the ends just stopped working...

so I took them out, and tested, no go.

put another one in, and has been working since...

    just wondering why

I have other LEDs that are exactly the same but I got them at a different time that still work under the same conditions

You need some series resistors to limit each led current to a safe value, for 2.1v reds on 5v at 25mA, a (5-2.1)/.025 = roughly 120R should do fine.
    Code:
    5v---------120R----(anode)red led(cathode)--------0v

well, I have one in place of one that stopped working is, and is working perfectly, just the original two stopped for no apparent reason...

I use 100 ohm resistors for blue and white LEDs
