well its UCAS time and i'm thinking of unis. Ive heard that Leeds Met is good, can anyone confirm this. I'm looking for a good computing course with an equally good uni and social life. My dad used to teach at Leeds Met. so........... please recomend me something, I expect to get at least 1 distiction next year in ym Btec

Leeds is very split when it comes to social life. It has it all but spread out over the city. This will mean that you'll probably have a small group of friends. I went to Hull where there is a very good social life and it is a compact city so everything happens near each other. The university has an excellent social atmosphere with a very friendly environment. As regards the computing courses, I cannot really comment 'coz I was an Engineer for 8 yars (yes I did ay 8.4 as an undergrad and 4 as a postgrad). I do believe it has a good reputation and the people I new who did computer science said it was very good. The other good thing about Hull is when you move into student houses (usually in your 2nd/3rd/4th year) you'll only be a maximum of 10 minutes walk from Uni as aposed to 45 min bus ride that you might have in other cities. Well that's my sales pitch over but one last piece of advice, enjoy your time as a student! Meblin
i live near leeds (i think that is enough to put anyone off) leeds is one of those citys where there can be right trouble going on but the next day everything is wonderful, there are some good clubs & places to hang out, but leeds is not a very cheap city s you have to be able to afford it. if you do come to leeds then you can get a cab to the fronter night club as that is preey good (well after you ahve had a few pints down your neck ) if dance is not your senen then there are still plenty of other things to do, from what ive heared leeds uni is a good palce but im not going to uni so i could nto vertify that but leeds is a nice place (theres a richer sounds there so you can build a flash system for your dorm farely cheap ) ps if you do come to leeds & see a good few modded cars all playing the same prodidgy track run, there my cousins & there idea of fun is thowing there high performance motors round leeds city centre on weekend nights (who am i kidding i will be doign the same when i get a motor, it will be a big speaker on wheels )

Poly's are indeed Polytechnics that are now called Universities. Gone are the days when you had to apply for Uni's on UCAS forms and Poly's on PCAS forms. You will always be a Poly Scum (j/k) Go have a look at the University and see what it's like (go during term time when there are students there) and talk to students to find out what it's like from their point of view. Another bonus about Hull is that it's DIRT cheap th live in luxury Meblin
nope if i had pimped it i would have typed in capitals & rreeeeelllllyyy big letters, if your into that scene after a few pints it can be good according to some of the lads i wnt to college with (they say its god for the dirty lassez) me i wouldnet kno as i dont go to the fronter in fact the only place i do go is the pub @ the end of my street, ah well they know me so i dont have to order, just walk in & they hold up a glass to ask if i want one, a nod gets me the pint wonderful when its busy come on im the forum psycho so how far can your opinion fall lets see i live in ravensthorpe & you know how bad an area that is, i went to dewsbury college agian another knock to the opinion & shcok horro im using a unmodded case with the standard LED's shcok horror im even using 5400prm 20gig drive i could not resist that spiel i need help
