News Left 4 Dead 2 announced

Won't buy it, I bought L4D two weeks before it came out... This is killing a game only 1 year after it's release... No new players, no nothing, everyone will buy L4D 2 because its new

 

Bit annoyed as I just bought L4D for £26 last weekend, its a great game but I was expecting lots of free content much like TF2 gets...sadly its not the case, the only way I would buy L4D2 is if it was bundled with Episode 3...

 

Oh man, I heard the TF2 baseball bat bonk in there.

It does explain why there hasn't been much new on L4D, let's face it survival could have been knocked out by their team in next to know time!

And so what if L4D2 means people start playing that one? Do I mind paying £25 a year to play L4D?

Unless this is heavily discounted or free for L4D1 owners I won't be getting this. L4D didn't offer more fun than TF2 or CS:S did and they cost 1/3 of the price and actually had ongoing content updates. I feel really ripped off right now.

 

Despite what most people are saying, I bet it tops steams charts again.
I for one, will be getting it. L4D, VS, 8 mates on random = just awesome.

 

I bet they ruin the elegant simplicity of L4D in the new one. The trailer is nice, but it just won't be the same.

Hopefully L4D will be immortalised in the same way people are still playing (some) old MMOs, as the way it should be done.

Wait that's how a free update should sound like, not a new game :/

 

I had to come back for my 3rd post on this. I just thought about this.......... I hope that the same team that worked on LFD 1 are not the same people working on LFD 2. Because that expalins a lot on us not recieving more worthwhile updates OR the complete Source code.

I feel like a sucker if that is true, thinking we had busy elfs creating new content as we speak for the first one.

 

The pan at the end of the trailer that was linked made me laugh. I'm super excited for this. Even if it is an xpac with more stuff, it'd still be awesome.

 

WTF? I just bought L4d a month ago. Watching the community working for new levels with the SDK released a couple of weeks ago, a year to late to make any kind of cool community maps. And now I know why its so late. They didn't want the community to make mods. Nooohhh they thought: "**** this free extension lets slap a '2' on it and sell it!

If it comes in November, Valve should give it away to me for free because I own HL1, HL2, HLEP1, HLEP2, TF2, Orange box and L4D just to reward me for being such a great supporter for their games. This stinks! Where is EP3??? not heard from since early 2008

 

I'll hold off judgement until it's actually released. Valve is one of the few developers I still have faith in... it can't be as bad as it sounds.

 

1) Hopefully it will be the case that porting community work for L4D 1 to 2 will be fairly easy. It sounds like the game is to be similar, with a better engine for game mechanics. If porting is easy, then the community may transition to 2, rather than become splintered or become disenchanted and leave.

2) I really hope they don't force a field of view of 70 or so again. I haven't bought L4D only for the reason that I can't set it to 90. Someone please correct me if they've changed it to enable the cvar or other controls to work now.

 

Prediction, Episode 3 will come with CSS 2 and Portal 2.

On topic, I can already see myself needing energy drinks to get through a long hard slog in the first level of L4D 2 because I will be insisting on baseball batting every mo**e*f*c**ng zombies face!

Not sure it warrantsa whole new game ... surely this should be a DLC charged at a comfy fee?

 

My prediction is that this is all a huge troll by Valve, a great way to drum up publicity for L4D and then release this stuff as an expansion/DLC/Free content.

I love L4D but I want more story not to much more just a little more involvement and yes where the hell is HL2 E3 me wants now >_<

 

I'm in the "annoyed its only a year since the original release" camp i bought it release weekend but tbh hardly played it my mates order was stuffed up by amazon and he gave up and never ordered it. Playing with randoms isn't really much fun.

I'm not sure i'd bother buying the sequel until we see if the community mods get any support this time and i'll not be getting it release weekend will wait until the first time its on the Steam weekend special.

Its still likely >12mths away knowing valve though.
