I only play versus because I *love* the fact that it is unpredictable. The AI Director is great and the bot AI is also very good, but there no more resourceful opponents than other humans. And I don't think it will get like Counter Strike because teamwork is easy...it's just common sense. It doesn't require hair-trigger reflexes or elfin dexterity; it requires you to be thoughtful of your teammates and not just concerned with personal accolades. The game displays some casual stats during the loading periods in a versus game, but other than that, there are no hi-scores, no tables or leaderboards. Your team wins or it loses - there is no much in the way of personal glory. I played with a friend and two randoms last night; Black-something concerned me because he was slow to move and slow to react and didn't communicate much either. Plodding along at the back, he slowed us down and was a recurring target for the Specials. As infected, he often failed to join in coordinated attacks too. But we guessed he was new/inexperienced and we stuck with him and dragged him up where we could. But the other guy (tm_32) was completely different. He was sharp, observant, quick to react and had decent aim. But after a couple of levels we let him die at the hands of a hunter - it worked - he quit. The problem was that he was a Rambo; he was out of the saferooms before Blacky had picked up his kit. He' wander off in a his own direction at will, he hoovered up all the pills and wouldn't share them, and we repeated had to go and rescue him while trying to drag Blacky along at the same time. It was an absolute mare. As well as we did as Infected, we couldn't make it count because we were getting murdered as Survivors. If tm_32 has been more team-centric we would have had a much easier ride and would possibly have won. Boiled, if you don't mind mucking in and and have some common sense, then I invite you to play with us. Once you get into genuine team-centric Versus you will never look back.
I love versus.. but there's certain aspects of it which I wish were different, mainly I'd like to see the witch be an actual obstacle, make her have same health and damage as in expert mode, as well as give the tank a bit more health. The witch currently isn't even a threat, generally she spawns out of the way and can be completely avoided, and then if she can;t, she's easily dispatched, most of the time without even incapacitating a survivor, much less kill him. Making tank spawns smarter would be nice too. I hate it when the tank on the Hospital Elevator level spawns all the way at the top when the survivors aren't past the elevator, and then you lose the tank without ever hitting them. So lame.
i find the game is often more fun when the survivors dont play that well together.... sure sometimes its fun to ace a level with barely any damage.... some stuff like hiding in the cupboard waiting for the lift on no mercy is plain boring for both teams! But fighting through the random carnage and limping to the safe room is usually more fun
count me in, I'll go dig you up on BiT's steam community now. Do you use a vent channel/skype conference/xfire to communicate? Me and two friends usually use skype for the audio quality, but it's an arbitrary choice really.
****ing ARSEHOLES. Playing expert coop Blood harvest, finale and a guy joins shouts 'myg0t owns you' and proceeds to shoot all dead then leaves. What a dick.
Urgh, the new update eliminates fire hunters </3 FAIL STEAM i guess they had to remove something to balance the updated tank, but still D:
Update as in the Versus campaign enabling for the other 2 campaigns and the Survivor mode + 1 new Survivor map? Yes. SDK for Xbox? No. Custom maps available for Xbox? No (need SDK). Ahh.. sucks. I wish the cvars could be more easily edited without changing cheats on though, I love increasing horde sizes to minimum of 50, max of 150, and mega mob size to be 200, with a common limit of 100. Anyone else having problems connecting to dedicated servers btw? I can connect to all of mine manually, but matchmaking, even with search key, is a no go.
I will play this game again when: 1. The other two campaigns are released for versus 2. Fix the ****ing smoker. Only then will I even consider launching the game.
Steam's being a f****t, I tried to add cjmUK and a bunch of other people but the proprietary browser refuses to follow the links, it just does nothing
What do you mean by "fix" it? I think it's fine as-is. Has anyone found that when they host a game locally, the gamespeed varies wildly? It can only be described as "going turbo" for certain levels of the campaign. The zombies are all faster, the reloads, the time between rushes, the tank speed, everything. It's all about double speed. Sometimes it will do it for 10 level restarts in a row, others it'll stop after the first. It's incredibly irritating when playing expert, because double-speed zombies really do make it twice as hard! Anyone encountered it?
