I have quite some leftovers now. An old case (define old... it's Helios), a P2-333 motherboard+cpu combo, a Riva TNT2, a Viper V770 (which is a TNT2 clone), a soundcard...

Would I be able to turn all this stuff into a multimedia pc? Or does playing divX require a faster system?

Divx requires 400/450mhz + to play smoothly, but it should play vcd and dvd ok. As my old celeron 333mhz did with the same gfx card too. I think this would have been better posted in the hardware or audio/video section.

When I run windows 98 on it with 256Mb's of RAM I think the problems will be lessened. At least I will try to make the system run nicely and play dvd and vcd, and divx as well. Maybe a bit of OCing with some ultrasilent fans will give the system a bump... we'll see. When the system runs alright I may even start a new project log... with a custom built case... as I said: we'll see..
