If I’d sweat anymore, you could fill a small lake. Heck me, it’s flippin hot. Hit 35c outdoor and 33c indoor here today, and we’re right in the red zone, with only an evaporative cooler (and a couple fans) because that’s all we could afford. It’s hardly helping but glad we have it.
Yup its been toasty, I still have my house wrapped up due to having outside rendered so can't open windows I think this is beneficial because windows closed and curtains closed it is only 26C inside, loads of fans just to circulate. Crazy yesterday with the thunder, lightening took a house down the roads roof off, never heard a noise like it, big fire ball I was panicking in our house, it is surrounded by scaffolding, and the lightening was all around us, we all packed go bags I'm on holiday all week, I don't even want to leave the house due to heat, perhaps I'll go up to Scotland for a bit see family. The the last couple of years I keep saying I am getting AC, but so long as nothing comes up it will happen end of the year I reckon, it wasn't even that bad a quote, £8k for multi split 6 rooms.
I have several temperature and humidity sensors, all of which tell me my office temp has dropped to a positively chilly 29.8 degrees Celsius. So, currently warmer than outside. I've just opened the doors on the 1st floor between the man cave and our bedroom and opened the bedroom patio doors, as well as the windows in the man cave. We're down to 29.3 degrees. I may have to break out a jumper. We have an AC unit, but the boys have got it to keep the second floor liveable. It is fugging hot up there.
Even up north it's darn toasty. I have a sensor outside that hit 38C in the garden today and that's in Newcastle. I know it's not in a sheltered box like the proper measurements but definitely more like what we are feeling. Feel mostly for the dog. Managed to keep him cool enough though.
Think its only hit the 27C according to a possibly broken sensor outside, here in Sunderland. Dog was laying flat on the cold tiles. I'm stuck in the house after the Op, and it isn't too bad indoors. But as soon as I step out in the yard, boy it is ridiculous. Dog waited until this evening to go out for a loo.
Our garden is a proper sun trap so it gets properly hot. My wife's car had it at 37C as well. Given it was about 26C in the house and significantly warmer when going outside, that makes me believe the readings.
went for a piss earlier and ended up whistling like a kettle, today has been a piss take, tomorrow even worse. Had to peel my stabbie off my come end of shift and even after a shower I still feel grimy, thankfully tomorrow is my last shift so I avoid the predicted thermodynamic shitshow on Thursday but still; yeugghh
The fan provided at work is one of those really small fan heaters where you can turn the heat function off, which if your more than 10cm away the fan does nothing. It was a case of is it better to have the shutter up or down... Still can't work out what is better. the bus and walk home broke me it had hit 34 and my uniform is black on black so that was fun. Had a cold shower then we don't have any fans ect as always found they just move warm air so I got my dog to get in the kitchen as it's a tiled floor and I spent time in the garage and it's the only cool place in the house. Not been to bed as I just couldn't sleep, and about to start round 2. Going into work early as we need things down in the cherypicker and it's hell the higher up the racking we went yesterday.
Oh well, this morning with the windows and doors open, the thermostat reads 26C and, after the heat of later yesterday, it feels pleasantly cool. VERY not looking forward to later today and, especially tomorrow. Next week, on the other hand, looks normal!
I’ve just put some window film on the outside. Know a chap who does proper window filming, not the cheap Amazon tosh but the tested and proven kind. 6.20am and fitting it to downstairs. Got the other side of the house to do yet but that’ll be in shade for a few more hours so later on for that.
Sorry to turn on my smug mode....... it was cool 25c yesterday and will be same 25c throughout next few days for me. That's because I installed 4 way multi-split AC last year covering 80% of living space. Only kitchen and small box room not cooled, but with all doors open, box room was not too bad at 27c. It's powered by free or 5.5p/kWh electricity thanks to my 12 years old FIT solar array (which has already got ROI) and home battery. With the changing climate, I figure days like these will come more often. Hence coughed up the money for such system. Also been using it over spring/autumn months to heat the house, and heat the bedrooms overnight whilst cheap tariff is active. The air-con is essentially a heat pump, so 7p electricity vs 6p gas (before the Trump war tax) means heat pump wins on cost.
I'm actually doing a lot better in the heat than I used to, it's going to be 24° in my home town today, 37° here in Bournemouth. I used to absolutely melt when it hit 27° but even today I'm still wearing black jeans and a dress shirt, no need to go into the "hot weather protocol" yet
Down the road from @ElThomsono it's warm but not in the red zone thankfully. We're fine but are concerned for MiL who's 93, housebound and very frail. On the radio on Monday, they explained that most of us can cope but older people with heat or lung conditions are at risk, as well as youngsters. MiL has both...and has refused our offers to get Aircon for her, which would make sense with weather like this likely to be a more regular event **UPDATE** The Red Zone has been moved South and Bournemouth & Poole are now in

upstairs in my place was a horrific 29c at 3am, ended up setting up the AC just to get a few hours decent kip, really not looking forward to working this evening but at least most of the fleet as working AC.
Thisssssss... Got this blackout blinds set on my windows, thin stuff with other side being slightly reflective silver-ish colour + aircon = housemates are melting in their rooms vs I'm chill
