Out of curiosity, whats your level of education for electronics? In my school we have a two year program split into four terms. I should be in term three, but I did some stupid things and I'm still in level two. So what about you?
We had no electronics options available at school. Only very basic stuff was covered in physics. I've taught myself everything I know (and learnt a bit at uni )
I got the basics from magazines (Practical Electronics, Maplin Mag, etc) in early teens, picked up electrics at work from the 'tricians, but really learnt most from the internet in the last few years. A degree in metallurgy really helped.
My highschool does not even know the word "electronics". I got interested in it back in junior high when my technology teacher gave me a few kits, from years ago, to work on. I started in analog and only since mid-2004 began fiddling around with digital. My major in college is declared as electrical engineering.
Basically the same, but nowhere near the same level. People like SteveyG and Acrimonious are electronics gurus in my opinion. Keep up the good work guys! _C
Taught myself. Getting an Electronics A level at the moment, pretty easy when you already know most of it
wow, i thought most of the people here had been to college for this stuff... knowing that most of you have done it all on your own is very encouraging to me!!! i got into building computers about 2 years ago, and after i got bored with that, i started tinkering with LCDs, which led me to all this. I learn pretty much everything from the internet, taking everything apart, and also my Dad.
I recently returned to colledge to get my bachelors in EE. Most of what I tinker with I learned through the Institution of Google.
I graduated as a bachelor in electronics back in 1974, I specialized in Nuclear Electronics in 1975. CD
All self-taught here, and I still have more questions than answers tinkering helps a lot, I learnt most of what I know from playing around.
Ive been all self taught also. I was well beyond what they were teaching in 9th grade, and have managed to keep learning more and more.
Bachelor's in EE - but analog always kicked my ass. Digital is my strongpoint (coding, mcus, logic, etc.) What always drove me nuts about GoogleU was that I could see the circuits and read them, but it makes me angry I don't understand every last detail of how they work (like I do with coding )
Study of nuclear reactors: fission (BWR, PWR) and fusion (Tokamak), radiation counters (Geiger-Muller,...), study of Particle Accelerators (linear and circular), study of nuclear applications (pipeline leaktesting,...). Was very interesting, I liked it very much. CD
