News LGA2011 motherboard showcase

    It is entirely possible they intentionally designed the CPU to have 2011 pins just to be the same as the year.

    At the very least it means the number of pins, the coincidence with the year, could be just that.. OR it could be Intel having "fun"

    Not sure why there would be any architectural reason for exactly 2011pins.. why not 2048 or 2000? or 2012, or 2010?

    I couldn't wait :(

    I had itchy trigger finger and now my sandy bridge is in the post. :( FML. Then again, in this age of Xbox friendly gaming, I only know of a few games that push my 4 year old dual core chip... so I think I'll be ok.

    It's already been confirmed, LGA 2011 will support Quad-channel memory.
