every one is entitled tou their own opinion and thank you for the comments,

i don't like the stick on jobies cos you can see the drive colour under and around the flap.

I use the pre-mod Drive bezel screw in one. No beige poking through. ( except for the door ) and very sturdy. But very pre-modded.

They are called spring plungers or sometimes spring catches... you can find them at most hardware stores.

Cool trick! I used to do a deal kind of like that on car CD player back in the 80's. I would cut an old cd in half and glue it to the back of a stock radio faceplate with all the knobs superglued back on. To make the cd player stealth when it was not being used, you just slid the cd on the back of the cover into the slot on the CD player and it looked like the crappy factory radio. Then nobody would break your windows and screw up the dash in your car!!

Get a crappy 4mb card of some variety and do the same thing, or even a piece of plastic/cardboard cut to the same dimensions would work

Hmm... I like the idea, quite a lot actually. But I think it can be improved on. :)

If you were to put a pivot of some sort near the bottom, such as by putting a stud through each side into the bezel, you would have a flip down cover. Then you could use a short section of flippy, one long enough to catch inside the slot, but not so long as to block another floppy when flipped down instead of the full disk. Now you have a stealthed drive that isnt detatchable.

I have an all acrylic case, I wonder if I could make this work with a clear cover and not make it look too stupid. Maybe I could install an led close to the drive bay so the light takes away from some of the drive showing through. whatcha think?
