I'm sure a lot of you have seen the lighted rheobus knob mod that Macroman did on his rheobus. Heres one that Koolvin did (http://www.bit-tech.net/article/41/).

    I have a couple questions.

    1. Is there anyway to do the mod without cutting out such large holes for the led wires to pass thru the faceplate? I would like to be able to secure the pots with nuts and washers onto the faceplate so I don't need to make a housing unit (ex. old cd rom casing)

    2. I'm a bit worried about the led wires snagging when turning. I know some people have had this problem - even after winding it around the shaft first. Is there a way to do it w/o the wires being in the way like that? Maybe allow them to move freely around the shaft? Or even use "brushes" to allow free knob turning but still conduct power to the LEDs?

    thanks!

I thought of something - maybe to still use the nuts but drill a small hole near the shaft to thread the wires going from the led thru it. But the hole needs to be close and small enough to be hidden by the knobs.

Trouble with "brushes" is they will probably act as variable resistors!

    Other ideas though:

Positive wire for LED fed through hole drilled in centre of shaft. Okay if a plastic pot. Neg to a track or brush against the pot collar.

Fibre Optic up through face-plate; piece of circular acrylic in the knob's "well" underneath, and just a hole through to the outer surface.

    Hmmmm....
