Linux Lightweight Server Distro

    People reccomend Ubuntu for servers because of the helpful Ubuntu community, it is easy to keep up-to-date, and usually works first try. Because it is linux, you can also disable whichever processess you don't need.

    Just watching my server now, there are about 60 tasks, most of which are loggers, daemons, and scsi controllers. I could probably stop it from listening to serial ports and things like that, cutting the tasks in half, but I don't care too much since it works...

    In top, my load average reads: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00. (on a 4 year old server) Unfortunately we moved buildings, so I had to move the server, making my uptime only 225 days. This server hosts some apps that are required to process certain data, and also houses various optional apps, and a few departmental websites, and I haven't had a problem with it yet.
