Apparently Jazzle is a member of it-tech :p
Otherwise, a good thing, it really is bordering on essential for most mods in the planning stage.

    It-Tech huh? Amazing...

It's funny that just now it's getting some wide recoginition when we, in the Bit-Tech community, have been using it for a long time now.

 We were all hoping this would be the case. Go Google.

Now there is no reason for anyone out there who had an illigitimate copy to get an authorised version.

I think Nexxo was making the point that most big news stories are posted on GD about 24 hours before they appear on the homepage.

How is this unorthodox on Google's part? They did the same thing with Keyhole/Google Earth, no?

I don't know how they can afford to give it away for free now. At least with Google Earth there is the potential to advertise shops and restaurants etc. but what can they advertise using sketchup?

If we advise members to :search: before they post, we should be seen to do the same. ;) Especially as news items frequently crop up in the GD section 24 hours earlier, as ch424 observes.

About giving a version for free: when searching for a free CAD program the owner of a small software company said in his web site that some big CAD software company employee boasted about theirs being "the most pirated CAD software" and that this was the big guy way of assuring they have all market for themselves, so in the end free (or pirated versions) are just ways to gain market.
