Not totally sure that this is the right section to post this but here goes...

With my birthday approaching in June I've been searching for a mini line bender as a present and I have to say its been a nightmare :( I remember using one at school that was about 1.5' long but after spending 4 days searching on the web I haven't found any suppliers of the machine or the heating elements.
Not looking for anything outrageous as its only going to be used for a max of 5mm plexi but as the curves are the striking feature of my up coming project they need to be perfect and heat guns/old irons scare me :(

If anyone has a supplier or an old one tucked away in the workshop that would be a HUGE help :thumb:

here in the US you can get the heating element from plastics shops like tapplastics. I don't know UK sources for plastics, but I'd go that route or maybe a sign shop.

->Circa85] Ive seen that video dude and its a good starting point if you can find the heating strip from a uk supplier which seems almost impossible.

->ModMinded] Found one but its priced at £300 :(

The heat coil from an old hair dryer or toaster... for insulation you can use concrete-hardy plank.:naughty: You will want to put it on a power strip with a mini breaker...

Oh my god man your a legend! I'm sure the wife's got a more than one old hair dryer kicking about! couldn't it just be wired up with a low amp fuse in the plug and a standard on off toggle switch? don't fancy shocking myself with 240volts lol

Just don't come looking for me if you set your hair on fire.:D

The problem with hardy plank is that it's a poor HEAT insulator, but I've made the junk glow orange with a torch before. It won't burn, but it will get hot.
