    Hi

I have a D-Link DGL-4300 (Router 1) and a Linksys RT31P2 (Router 2). I only have router 2 as it is required by my VoIP provider (Vonage) to provide the service. Router 1 has my internet link. I have connected router 2 to router 1 by connecting the wan port of router 2 to a lan port on router 1. The VoIP service works perfectly in this configuration and all activity on router 1 is also running smoothly. All network connected devices have static IP addresses assigned through router 1. Also, DHCP is enabled on router 1 but disabled on router 2. The network IP is of the 192.168.0.x variety and all devices have IP addresses in this range.

Here is my problem - I want to make use of the 3 lan ports on router 2. I have tried connecting two devices, namely an Asus WL-HDD and a D-Link DSM-320 Media Player, each of which were set to receive their IPs via DHCP. When I tried to use these devices after plugging them in, they could not get an IP. After reading various posts on the internet, I decided to swap from the wan port on router 2 to a lan port on router 2. The VoIP service promptly stopped working and I still couldn't get the two devices mentioned earlier to obtain IPs dynamically.

Can anyone suggest i way that I can have my cake and eat it? i.e. VoIP and the use of the 3 lan ports on router 2 when it is connected to (and theoretically controlled by) router 1.

I hope that info is sufficiently clear and detailed enough. Would appreciate any help you can provide.

Connect one cable from the wan on router 2 to a lan on router 1 and connect a cable on a lan on router 2 to a lan on router 1 is the only way to get it done that i know of.

Thanks. I've done that and it seems to be working. I did consider doing that but thought it would be too easy.

    Cheers bud
