I am about to go nuts here. My linksys bfsr41 router isnt allowing me to forward ports.

I have never upgraded the firmware in the years that I have owned it. Well, for some dumb reason I decided to. The upgrade seemed to work great. All of my systems can access the net just fine. The forwarding does not work. I am trying to forward ports 80, 6667, and various others for games. Nothing seems to be working.

I even downgraded the firmware one step, but I still cannot get any traffic across the ports.

The one thing Im not doing, I guess, is naming the application under "customized applications" in the forwarding screen. Is this required?

i have the same router and have no probs frwrd ports 5631-5632 for pc anywhere. I did give it a name ie: PCA. just give it a name and see what happens. Make sure you're using the correct ports.

Ok, I gave the ports made up names and it still isnt running. The firmware upgrade hosed it. Crap.

Well, Ive had this router for years. So I guess Ive gotten my use out of it. I will be picking up another one this weekend. Grrr

did the upgrade fail halfway on you or something?

why dont you just try resetting the router and re-config, it's worth a shot, instead of 50-70 bucks later!

    and why r u forwarding port 80? that's http.

No, the upgrade went smoothly and appeared to work perfectly. The router still routes traffic for my systems on the network, but I am unable to forward any ports, not just 80. I have a webserver on my network, thus the need for port 80.

I have reset the modem multiple times and even downgraded the firmware once, after talking to Linksys tech support.

I am now unable to play several of my games and am hindered in several other ways because of this problem, so off I go to buy another Linksys. Why Linksys? Because this router has worked perfectly for years and they continue to give me free 24/7 technical support by phone when the warranty ended a long time ago.
