Hi i was wondering if it was possible for me to connect my pc (which is wirelessly connected) to my pc downstairs (which is connected through the router) and print as my printer is connected to my downstairs pc via usb.
If so will i have to setup a network as my pc upstairs only connects to my wireless router for the internet. If this is the case are there any guides on how to do so. I dont realy want to share files just use my printer downstairs. my pcs are on xp and vista if that makes a difference??

    Thanks

If i've read your post correctly, you have 2 PC's connected to the same router?

If so, you aready have a network, and its just a case of setting up the print sharing on the respective PC.

Is it the vista PC or the XP pc with the printer?

I do this at my house. If they are all windows boxes all you have to do is run network setup and make sure you keep the same domain, I use MSHOME because I'm too lazy to change it and write it down and remember it. It will ask you if you want to share printers, but you will have to go into printers and faxes to choose which ones.

you already have a home network. right hand click on your printer on the xp machine and select sharing. select share as, and give the printer a network name (keep it short and simple).

check the xp machines name (if its long and awkward, change it).

on the vista machine, load "run" and type: \\yourcomputername\yourprintername

it should then tell you your about to connect to a printer, agree and it should set itself up. :D

Check that out. Go though the steps, pretty simple. It would take more time do do a Network Setup Disk than to just do the same thing on both machines, it isn't that hard.
EDIT: Golygus, nothing says he has a domain set up, he may just be getting internet through it, I would run the Network Setup Wizard just to be sure.

Just make sure file and printer sharing is turned on, browse to the machine with the printer attached as if you were going to browse files (\\machinewithprinter) and add the printer. Pretty straightforward.

Bonjour Printer Sharing may also help. http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bonjourforwindows.html It's how I share my printer, though I've got a USB port on my router directly rather than from a computer. Should work the same way however.
