I noticed my wireless network kept dropping on my PC, so I reinstalled windows and downloaded SP2, hearing that it works wonders for wireless networks.

Now it seems that every time I wake the computer up, switch applications, breathe, etc. I get that annoying balloon that says "connected to your_network strength excellent".

Which to me says it is "flickering"?

The other day neither my computer nor my wife's laptop could connect for about ten minutes.

Very frustrating, as I've had this router for over a year now with no problems (other than caused by my lack of networking skills).

Anyone else have symptoms like these?

The majority of sites I've googled said to upgrade firmware and install SP2. done and done, still no help.

Okay, I've taken my linksys router off my linksys cable modem (still connected, but not locked one on top of the other like they were).

I think the actual wireless network dropping was caused by overheating (the plastic between the 2 devices were hot to the touch).

Now my only issue is my desktop still drops and I need to tell it to "repair" about once a day.

Any ideas? Maybe I should use a static IP or something on my local network and turn of dhcp?

I'm sorry if this is of little use, but I get that balloon coming up every so oftern as well - but never had any problems connecting.

Not really sure why you're having problems - I'd just try go for a reset by holding a paperclip in the back of the access point for awhile.

Oh, and I'm sure I've heard of people having problems stacking the access points before - have the same AP so did a little research into them see.

Have a google for "mustdie" firmware - it allows you to change the signal output (it maybe slightly against transmission rules in certain countries, so be careful if you choose to do this though!). It may help signal and bandwidth if nothing else.

Any inbetween/near/around the router and pc? Especially anything that uses lots of juice - microwave, refridgerator, ect...

Are you using the inbuilt WPA encryption? Does the wireless device support WPA?

Have you got it working without encryption? Checked the MAC filtering?
