Linux Kernal being re-written to avoid the Wrath of Bill? Surely not? This from the Inq:

THE OPEN Source Development labs has denied a report that it, along with IBM and Intel, is re-writing the Linux kernel to avoid 27 Microsoft patents that the operation system supposedly breaks.

A report in Linux Business Week had claimed that the re-write was part of a programme dubbed 'Operation Open Gates' and would go public on January 25.

However, an OSDL spokesperson that the whole thing was a "bunch of nonsense" and there was no programme called Open Gates. She should know, the OSDL, employs Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux.

Quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald, here, she said that the term was invented by a PR bloke for Beaverton who was hired to create to help jobs growth in the state of Oregon.

IBM has a Linux Competency Center in Beaverton.

    L'inquage

Smokescreen on the OSDLs part, or just heresay?
