**for those Linux users im running Slackware on my computer, and im trying to update them to kernel 2.4.20 because as i was doing my daily routine of messing around, i broke it XServer won't load anymore, and neither will my sound/network its a RealTek NIC and a SBLIVE Value soundcard, i know those are built into the 2.4.18 kernel i have but reloading the kernel doesnt help my question is, how do i update the bloody kernel? perhaps someone can point me towards a specific manual, or, from experience can tell me how to do this.
there is a linux forum in the software forum. you get linux inclined people in there. you might have better response there Edit: wow. i used there in every single sentance. thats probably one of my worst posts ever gramatically speaking.
Go here to find links to the kernel source, and general info on installign teh new kernel, but just read the docs, they'll tell yo as well. I think what your thinking of, is a nice patch or similar like Windows used ot use. Not here. Everything is built independantly and then pointed ot where it needs to know.
