Answers seem to be different depending on what tablet you have. If you go back to the top of page 16 there's a discussion about charging and using the usb at the same time.

    Thank you.
Will take a look at the top of page 16 as you've suggested.

Pretty impressed so far. Tablet runs quickly (or at least as quick as can be expected from full blown windows on a mobile device!).
Most of the "annoyances" are more down to windows/apps (i.e not being able to install them on micro SD for example).

Not that anyone cares most likely, but SQL 2014 express runs quite well - can't install management studio/sql server to SD card (boo) but the install is only a 1.5gb so doesn't hurt toooo much.
Battery life seems decent enough - not noticed it being any worse than say the Nexus 7 (it's no iPad though...)

Anyone have any recommendations for a decent (cheap!) sleeve case?

Don't know about the 7" or 8" cases, but I bought this for my 10". Really nice keyboard that actually comes away from the stand so you can use it more like a traditional keyboard.

So I found this which may (or may not) have some useful stuff on there.
That being said, I tried to install the available drivers on my 10 last night and I think it's lost the bluetooth adapter (there's an unkonwn device) :)

Is there anyway to use USB OTG to connect an input device and charge it at the same time?

    EDIT:

Ignore the above - I tried to use in home streaming on Steam - over a wireless network its a hopeless mess!

I've done it from PC to PC without issue.
Will have a go to the Linx tonight and report back.

Monaco works fine, so thought I'd up the ante a bit with Space Hulk which also works fine (via touch too.... :eeek: ).

That's (5Ghz) wireless PC to the tablet.
Will have to find time to grab the HTPC keyboard and mouse and try something a little more strenuous :)

The Linx 7 and Linx 8 are apparently made by different manufacturers and have totally different BIOS. I haven't been able to get my Linx 8 to charge and use USB devices simultaneously. Also the setting that works in the Linx 7 to allow it to charge and use devices turns off the Camera in the Linx 8 and still doesn't allow charging.

Edit: To be totally accurate my Linx 8 does actually charge with USB device connected but at 0.05A is likely to take nearly a month to get fully charged.

Is there a specific OTG hub your using ?
I'll make sure to not get that one to test with..

Seems an oversight to not have this working.

The ones I've tried unsuccessfully are this and this. Someone, somewhere posted a link to one that has a pass through port but I haven't been able to find it again.

The one with the switch doesn't even allow my Samsung Galaxy Tab S to charge and use USB devices simultaneously.

Has anyone tried Unified Remote for gaming?

I intend to try it when I get home.

After a bit more use/playing around...

It's been possible to get some of SQL to install to the SD card by using Directory Junction (MKlink /J) - basically creating an alternate program files on the C drive point to D.
This seems to work fine, performance is good etc and should work fine for any other apps that refuse to be installed on removable media if they offer the ability to choose an install location.

Looks like similar can be done for pagefile as well through symlinks (although does require pagefile to be disabled first, not sure how the tablet would cope with that...) - not sure how much slower this would make the system - haven't done disk speed comparisons between internal/removable..

Battery life is good, standby time is loosing around 6% a day which is on par with my old Nexus 7 (no where near iPad but certainly manageable!)

Next step is to sort a bluetooth keyboard and mouse - currently looking at the amazon basics bluetooth kb (as it's uk layout) and the mouse below. But if anyone has any recommendations for a keyboard/mouse set (Bluetooth only) for under 30 quid that'd be ace (Keyboard needs to be UK layout!)

    Bluetooth-UK-QWERTY-Keyboard

    TeckNet-Bluetooth Mouse

Just got my screen protectors from ELTD for my Linx 8 in the post.

Put one on and looks really nice. Cut out for camera is spot on. Makes the screen a bit shiny but not by much.

Comes with 3 screen protectors and a kit including, 1 wet wipe, 1 dry wipe, electrostatic dust film, dedusting cleaning film/sticker, replacement pulling tags and a screen wipe cloth.

I would say make sure you get the initial line up spot on as it does go right to the edges so if you are off by a mm or 2 then you'll overlap onto the plastic/rubber backing and get a bubble. Happened to mine in the top right hand corner and had to use a 2nd protector.

The feel of it is nice, a little bit more resistance than if it was just the screen but no more than other screen protectors I have used on phones. So I expect this to go away with use.
