    As the title suggests...
    ...peices of software that most/all computer users should own;
I'll start the list with a few:

    Winamp
    MBM
Ultramon (only found out this existed a few days ago!)
    Photoshop
    IRC
    Download Client (Go!Zilla etc)
    Paintshop Pro
    Kazaa

If you read this post, please add to the list - programs should be either free/shareware, or relatively cheap (ie, don't post stuff like 3D Studio Max (£3500!) - unless piracy is your game :grr: )

I'm sure there are hundreds of useful programs that alot of us don't know about :D

    cheers
    *rad

[EDIT] - should this have been posted in 'Software' ?!? :wallbash: - feel free to move the post  [/EDIT]

But isn't photoshop like $1000 itself?

And why would you need both Paintshop and Photoshop. . (Photoshop is the better one by the way :p)

    Well:

    Ad-Aware (unless your a voyeur :p)
    FlashFXP (FTP client)
ClearMem Works pretty good for clearing up your RAM if you enojoy long un lagged uptimes and use a lot ofstuff like me :p
TClockEX for making your clock alittle nicer, and allowing different info (such as RAM free)

    Chi !

Can I suggest Kazaa Lite instead ?

Zap, the idea is software most should own. Obviously excluding truespace.

I think you should exclude Photoshop, too. tbh most people use cracked versions to do things you can easily do in much cheaper software like PSP.

Can we possibly leave warez out of this discussion all together... it doesn't need to be mentioned... so don't mention it.

    Thanks! :)

    Edit Pad Classic (Notepad replacement)
    Nero Burning Rom (duh)
1st QuickRes (Quickly change resolutions & refresh rates)
    Style XP (WinXP theme changer)
HD Tach (like the name says)
    Panorama 32 (Wallpaper randomizer/autochanger)
Partition Magic (again, like the name says)
    Xteq X-Setup ( Super TweakUI)
VirtualDub (Audio/Video Editing & Compressing, Capturing)
    WinAmp 2 (ver. 3 sucks)
Norton System Works (Cheap, fast, system diagnosis & fixing, especially the 'WinDoctor')
Bryce 3D (My fav. 3D modeler. Really easy to get the design you want)

SecureFX FTP (I tried all the others, liked this the best)

Actually I think Zap has a good point, I mean, what self respecting geek wouldn't have some form of 3D modeler?

Personally I use ZModeler as it is free, and extremely easy to use.

I'd use Truespace myself, but it's too much bother to try and locate the magazine Zap had pointed out earlier and I'm to chinsy to buy it :D

For notepad replacements: EditPlus 2 (just a personal preference)

    - Analox X Netstat Live
    - TCPView (great 'netstat -a' replacement)
    - Pulse (Project Dolphin)
    - Daemon Tools (not for warez but for testing home made ISO's - Autoruns etc)
    - Rainlendar

    My favorite programs:

    Notepad
    Photoshop 7
    Paint Shop Pro 7
    Calculator
Internet Explorer/Netscape/Mozilla/Opera (various version for testing web pages)
    Macromedia MX suite*
    AutoCAD Architectural Desktop
    AutoDesk Inventor

As for PSP vs Photoshop, Photoshop is much more professional than PSP, and I use it 10 times more, but PSP kicks butt when it comes to vector graphics.

*I use code view, don't worry

    Winamp - I prefer sonique
MBM - No idea what this is
Ultramon - No idea what this is
Photoshop - Amazing piece of software
IRC - Hardly ever use it any more, but agreed
Download Client (Go!Zilla etc) - Full of spyware, have fun
Paintshop Pro - Good software, I use it in conjunction with photoshop
Kazaa - Also full of spyware, have fun. Please don't let this begin a debate about kazaa lite etc...
