I went home to the in-laws' for the weekend.
Was nice to get away from the city for a bit.

That is, of course, until my lodger calls to say that we've been burgled.
This happened Friday night but wasn't discovered until late yesterday afternoon. I got a train back here (Liverpool) from Surrey first thing.

    The reason they're Little:
It appears that some kids (or skinny thieves) broke open the smallest window on the house, kitchen window at the back, then opened the back door from the inside.

    The real reason they're B*****ds:
They only stole my lodger's laptop, my gf's ancient laptop, and the PS2 and all our games and DVDs. About the same value as the excess.

    The reason they're idiots:
They didn't take the house keys, or the car keys. (Thank Deus)

    --

Dunno what to say, just need to tell people.

If only they'd come in the front - they'd be on my webcam.
    :grr: x lots.

Ouch...lots of stuff that's gone. Have you got insurance, if so at least you'll be able to get your stuff back. But still, it's an awful feeling that someone's just come into your house and taken what belongs to you. :blah:

Well that sucks ass. Sorry to hear that Jazzle. I hope you get at least a good amount of compensation. Probably a bunch of Chavs by the crook's complete lack of the concept of value. And their prints SHOULD be everywhere...

yes he has insurance but the goods they stole are only worth the exces on the insurance so there is no point in claiming cos they have to pay the insurance company that much to claim.

Thank god they didn't take any of the more expensive things, and because of what was taken, it most likely was kids. Feel sorry for ya, I can imagine what it would feel like.

Changed that locks? You sure they haven't taken any of your housekeys, including the ones you've forgotten about?

What was on the laptops? Were they mostly internet and playing around laptops or did they have work on them? (In which case, that really sucks). Sorry to hear this happened to you.

    Thanks peeps.
There's only four sets of keys, know that for sure - only moved in 10/11 months ago, all accounted for.
The laptops were both used for (uni) work, though fortunately nothing major lost.
    And yes it does suck.

Hey man, this really sucks (I hate burglers/thiefs - read my thread "thief" and see for yourself)

You are lucky they didn't took your life (what seems to happen more and more here in holland) and that they didn't steal the MOST expensive stuff..

I live in the addic.. there is no way they will steal my laptop but I still put my laptop under my bed (there is an other bed with a matras (sp?). So they won't see I have one.. I almost never take it downstairs cause ppl LOOK what you have in your house.

I'd suggest next time to put all the stuff (like the laptop, ps2, dvd's/cd's) in a closet with a lock on it. Sure you have to walk to the closet and open it every time.. but at least you are safe (hide the key from the closet too where you only know it - or put it in a safe)

Nowadays you can't be to carefull of your own property.. ppl can't keep their dirty hands of of it.. :grr:

Where do you put the key to the safe :p (I know twisty dials or number locked)

Insurance companies really do have it handy. Pay them to cover loss which they will try their best to get out of paying, and cover small losses by high excess. Unlucky :(

just been talking to my dad while i read the details - and it seems that insurance companies are just utter b*****ds too.
there's a chance that the laptop isn't covered since it's a 'brown good' - i.e. an electrical item which isn't a 'white good'.

I need to ask them questions without them knowing it's me, but I think I'll be the only Southerner calling them this month.

I got robbed back in November, and the n00bs that robbed me were idiots to. They took my palm pilot but they don't have my memory stick to unlock it so its a paperweight, then they took my wireless headphones i got from Malf but they didn't take the receiver so that's another paperweight. They stole part of my stereo but not the whole thing so that's another paperweight. I'm surprised they didn't even touch my computer at all. Guess they don't know the value of a big blue noisy glowing thing. :)
I hope you get sweet revenge on the ****ers. :)

That is why I am promted to build a security system that has guns pop out of the ceiling. That would be so badass.

    Sorry about the burglers.... >_<

Even if they stole my computer, they would never be able to get the damn thing to boot. Hell i even struggle getting it to boot.

Sorry to hear dude. It sound like you need to get a new insurance policy. My excess is about £50. Yours must be what? £500?
