Hi just wanted to share with you a little diamond of an cpu air cooler I've got.

    It's the akasa ak-955, it has a copper core, aluminium fins and a 8cm fan I think...may be 6cm.

I'm using it on my old Q6600 default clock is 2.4 but I have it overclocked to 3.75Ghz...is that a good overclock for air cooling?

I'ts stable on prime an this little air cooler cools it to low 30's deg C when fully loaded on prime......is that a good cpu temperature fully loaded with that overclock on air? I think it's quite good.

Just wanted to share with you.

Those temps don't sound right for that clock speed, low 30s at 3.75ghz?

I have checked this several times, it is a very good little cooler, perhaps it's solid metal build is better than all these new heat pipes?

I'm agreeing with docodine. What program are you using to monitor the temps?

I've been using "CoreTemp" is that any good?....I have got my fan set to 100%

Core temp is the one most people seem to use.

Somethings not right as there is no way a cooler like that is performing better than the big dogs of the heat sink world, it's barely any different to Stock Intel coolers.

Core Temp and Real Temp are the recommended temperature monitoring programs so you should be good there. If you said Speedfan then yeah, there would be your problem. Very good at controlling fans but next to useless at reporting temperatures and voltages.

Mine has a copper core though, copper is a very good heat conductor, the proof is in the temperatures.

I have a Q6600 with an Antec Kuhler 620 + two Scythe AP-15 fans in push-pull (a more capable cooling solution), and my idle temps at stock clocks are around the same as your load temps at 3.75ghz

Are you sure you didn't mean 2.75ghz?

I have 415mhz fsb and multiplier of 9 ....cpu voltage about 1.37

    Coretemp says 3.74xxx almost 3.75

It might be more to do with my case though, I made it myself and sealed it air tight so no dust could get on the cooler...that must help.

Do you have a screen shot of core temp with prime running on all cores?

What's your motherboard? Are your ambient temps subzero?

    It's a foxconn x38a digital life......room temperatures are about 22 deg C.

What would you need a screen shot showing both prime and coretemp running?...I'll do that.

There is no way a basically stock intel cooler will keep temps that low at 100% load. Watercooling could barely keep temps anywhere near that low. Sounds like idle temps to me, are you sure you're running Prime 95 correctly?

Like docodine, my idle temps when my Phenom II downclocks to 800MHz are in the low 30s with a Dark Rock Advanced. I'm swaying towards a faulty sensor or a bug with your motherboard and Core Temp.

Have a look at the temperatures in the BIOS. I know they wont be 100% load temperatures but its worth a look. What does Core Temp say your idle temperatures are?

at Idle the temp goes low and core temp seems to lock up at 9,5,5,9, but I'm sure its lower than that because it takes a while when I start prime for the temps to rise and go upto the 30's.

...because I'm not convinced prime is loading all the cores to 100% and like others are saying here you'd be lucky to get those sort of temps with hundreds of pounds of water cooling kit.

Faulty sensor or bug. There's no way you could cool a CPU to below ambient with air cooling.
